For those with sensitve ears…
The last couple years I have not been able to wear earrings..they itch/irritate my ears. I just got my hair cut and really need earrings.
If anyone has suggestions for earrings..for sensitive ears, dangly/drop , not teeny tiny, and lightweight (don’t want to stretch my earlobes LOL).
Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.
Sorry about all my spelling typos…
Luvmytzu, I love the look of large earrings and can’t stand the weight. BlingGuard Dots Stabilizing Earring Supports (item 244-948) are fantastic for that purpose. And they can stay on your ears after a couple of showers. Very good product. They are clear and noone can tell they are on your ears even when your hair is up or very short.
Now, Steel to me is not really a feminine jewelry material. It can be done in nice designs but personally I cannot get over sales pitch “you can put this in a dishwasher and it will be as good as new”. To me steel is cooking utencils and heavy-duty ones at that. I do not discourage you from buying steel jewelry if this is your thing.
Many designers have lines of fashion and fine jewelry with 14K posts. Carolee Lux is my favorite. If your sensitivity is related to allergies- 14K posts will help. If it is a dangle earring- on ebay you can buy 14K findings “French hook” and leaver back, etc. Just take a pair of small pliers and swap the hooks of your favorite fashion earrings to 14K. That way you will be able to wear earrings you already have and love with no irritation.
There is a small chance that you might have a mild infection in your piercings. Your physician will be able to determine that. In that case- 2 weeks of antibiotics and you will be back to your old healthy self. HTH
luvmytzu…stainless steel. Emma Skye has some pretty ones. And there are adapters that you can pick up for not much money that you can put over the posts on earrings and on level backs and such that will protect your ears from irritation. I thought HSN had something like that but I didn’t find it. Someone else might know if they do. But most craft shops, costume jewelry chains like Claire’s and even some jewelry stores will have them. Just small fine tubes that will fit thru your holes with the posts in them. You might look for those too. But stainless might be your best bet.
I would go with a pure silver post:womanhappy:
Maybe your having a reaction to the nickel. It just might be that you need to go to another metal like steel, gold or platinum. Or you could try silver plated with another metal. If that works for you than the choices are unlimited.
