Finding the right fit
I am having trouble finding a clothes line that will fit my goofy body. I figured I would try different brands on clearance and find one that was meant for me. I bought an outfit by Anthony. LOVE IT!!! It’s a little baggy but it’s not going anywhere. I’ll just try a size smaller next time. I bought a pair of DG2 jeans and loved the fit except they didn’t come all the way up to my waist. Eewww. I hate that feeling. Again, they are staying. I’ll just wear really long shirts over them and not leave the house. lol I almost tried other brands but they got yanked out of my cart. Oh wait! I forgot about the question. Does anyone have a suggestion off a good fit based on the brands and fit I have mentioned? I have to have petite in the pants. Buying regular and wearing stiletto shoes isn’t going to work at 60. lol Also, I like outfits but my bottom is a full size bigger than my top.
I have more Antthony clothes than I can count. I have been buying from him for years. His sizes are always consistent. His “black” is always the same color, year to year…so no problem with blacks not matching.
His fabrics wash nicely & pack/travel with little to no wrinkling. They are my travel/cruise/go to’s. And Antthony has his designs made in the USA. He was the 1st designer I found that did this.
I also like the Slinky line. Sizing seems to run consistent. I take the same size as I take with Antthony.
Again.. made in the USA. I like the fabric they use now. When I first tried Slinky I found the material to be very heavy & you could see through it when backlit. I think that material is still offered…it’s called “Original Slinky Brand “. I like the newer fabric, which is like Antthony’s fabrics.
I also like the Slinky lace jackets & crochet jackets. Perfect over a tank, or dress. The lace is lighter weight& tighter weave. The crochet is a heavier, looser weave, that is easier to snag. When I say heavier, I do not mean it’s a heavy weight, warm jacket. It’s not. It is very light and airy, just heavier than the lace jackets.
I would suggest buying separates & mixing & matching.
When I started, I got 2 pair of Antthony black pants & just started collecting Antthony’s tank/jackets sets. Then I branched out to his dresses. I don’t buy crazy, super trendy stuff that will only be good for a season, but I’m not buying boring stuff either. Think long term when selecting…will this look good 3 years down the road on me.
Ihave the same problem i can fit into some designers cloths and not others so i look for loose fitting tops and i knit sweaters thought i am begining to thing its cheaper to buy.NETTEA 12:13 2015
It’s funny, kind of trial and error. Different designers size differently. I am a size 14/16 and got the Nene cold shoulder top in my 1X recommendation. As it turns out, I exchanged it several times until I found the right size in that style, a small! Nowhere in the real world am I a "small". In Slinky brandand Antthony, I take a large or xl. HSN is great about exchanges!
Marla Wynne comes in petite. I usually get a petite or avg depending on inseam charts. I loved the new Marla line and the pants look great with control top. I just got 2 pairs of Iman pants so I passed on the TS. But was tempted! I ordered Iman in petite in one style and avg in the other and both fit well. I guess it’s trial and error pretty much and a matter of what makes you feel best, fits best and is comfortable. Slinky is comfy but the pants don’t fit me at all. I wish they did. I never tried DG2. I can’t get over the back pockets. Weird..I know. Pants are just the most frustrating clothing item to buy. ??
DG2……….where do I begin. I love them. BUT there appears to be 3 different types…classic, stretch and super stretch. I have all three. The sizing on them vary greatly. The very first pair I got was stretch. So I saw a pair on clearance I snatched up on (not realizing there were different types at that point) got the same size as my stretch and they were classic! much tighter. As far as the rise goes, I found my super stretch have the higher rise (which I prefer as well) I bought the one with the control panel inside the front that was the ts a short while back. I truly love them once I got the right size! I am also a petite. I got a 4 in those and my others I think are 8’s! Huge difference! (clearly vanity sizing, aand you won’t hear me complain at all. I haven’t EVER been a 4!!!)
What’s important is your size. are you a plus size woman or what?
It sounds like you will really like Slinky Brands and Nikki Poulos.
Also, if you are petite, Marla Wynne is probably not for you.
PS the Pants come in petite!
Try Marla Wynne. Looks amazing! The entire collection is fabulous! Catch it on special before midnight. Its a TS. Good luck!
