Diane Gilman: Strong Chemical Smell in DG2 Clothing!
Please tell HSN if your DG2 jeans or other clothing have a toxic odor, so they can investigate!
I bought the DG2 Turtleneck with Jewels Item#435-059 at full price, a beautiful heather chambray sweater that smelled like toxic chemicals, even after three hand washings! Unfortunately, I had to return it and they waived the shipping. Then, I just purchased 2 pair of DG2 Comfort Waist Knit Twill Jeggings Item# 454-663, I opened the box and was immediately hit with a strong odor. I tried them on to see how they fit and developed a rash on my legs and welts around my waist area. I took a shower and my snow white towel is now blue. I had to take two more showers to scrub the dye off my legs and waist!
Exposure to these chemicals being absorbed through our skin could cause cancer! I have invested alot of money in buying your clothing, but I will never buy a black or indigo jean or jacket from you ever again. It has been four years worth of washings, and they still emit a strong chemical smell, bleed dye, and give me a rash all over my arms and legs. They have to be washed separately or they infect my entire laundry load with this offensive odor!
When are you going to investigate this problem? Why do you ignore these reviews? If you cared you would do something to fix this problem. Instead, You are too busy chanting, "50 Million Sold!" These garments smell toxic!
I am tired of getting a rash from your clothing!
HSN Customer Service requested that, " I mail pictures of me wearing the jeans, pictures of the stained towel, and pictures of the rash on my waist and legs to their Customer Escalation Department."
As instructed, I mailed them the pictures with a note to: Please investigate this matter and inform me of the results.
(I’m not going to mention employee names because they are just doing their job.)
I followed up with a call, and they finally responded, "These pictures just get filed away and we move on. I have no idea about the smell and I can’t promise you anything!"
Really! I am so disappointed! I had to put these noxious jeans back on to take pictures, deal with an allergic reaction all over again, and mail everything only to find out that I wasted my time!
By the way, I always try clothes on first to see how they fit, and I never wear them for any length of time before washing them. Therefore, I refuse to keep or wash these Jeggings for the following reasons:
1. Customers should never be mailed out garments with an odor period!
2.The other pair was purchased as a gift. I refuse to expose the recipient to this odor.
3. It has been 4 years of wearing DG2 Black and Indigo garments, and they still emit a strong chemical smell, bleed dye, and give me a rash all over my body. They have to be washed separately or they infect my entire laundry load, and I have tried everything, vinegar, baking powder etc. As a result, I had to throw these clothes in the garbage. This is unfair! I have invested my time and money in buying DG2 by Diane Gilman clothing from HSN!
4. I even tried to get the smell out of these Jeggings. It was 10 degrees in the area where I live, so I hung both pairs outside to air them out and attempt to remove the odor. They still smell strong and the odor has permeated throughout my home!
5. My husband is complaining that this chemical odor smells so toxic it is making him dizzy!
6. Although, I like Diane Gilman and appreciate her designs; I have made the mistake numerous times, of getting stuck with clothing that I received from HSN with a Chemical Odor, because I like the way they fit.
7. I have called HSN Customer Service before to inform them of a strong chemical smell, and they always reply, "This is the first time someone has called with this issue, or I have never heard of this before?"
Really HSN! I am not the only Customer who has received garments from you with a Toxic Chemical Smell! Please see the one and two star reviews for this particular Item# 454-663. Why do you ignore these reviews?
Please focus more time on listening to what people have to say, and on the quality control of these particular garments; rather than the quantity being sold. My husband and I are worried that exposure to these chemicals, from both the dyes being absorbed through my skin, and the odors inhaled into our lungs puts us at risk for cancer!
If you care about your Customers, then you must investigate this matter! These garments need to be recalled and sent to a lab for testing!
I have bought DG2 jeans and have had strong chemical odor. I dont know why they keep letting her sell clothing with this odor. i am starting to think they clean the returns and resell them.
Never had a problem just got some new ones and they are fine
When products have been left in airtight packaging for a long time, the volatile molecules start to build up. When you open the packaging, they all get released at once, which means you get a much stronger waft than usual. This is one possible reason why the smell would be more noticeable in Chinese products, which have to travel a long way to get here.
Goodness! I’ve never had that happen with her jeans or tops. Jeans, Jeggings, or Leggings.
I have been itching around my waist and back and rashes on my legs for months now. I changed soaps, stopped supplements and other things trying to get rid of this horrible itching and rash. I finally went to my doctor who asked me about my clothing… I’d worn DG2 jeans exclusively. Yes, they stunk horribly when I rec’d them but obviously even after washing they still emit poisons. Perhaps we need a class action lawsuit? How many of us have been poisoned by these jeans?
After several years of watching Diane Gilman and her DG2 jeans I finally bit.
I decided on the black skinny crop and the demin color.
Both size 12. The jeans were so far apart in how they fit it really was not funny. I did keep the black (big mistake) and returned the ill fitting demin color.
After washing 3 times, airing outside for days and even putting them in the freezer, (Pinterest idea) they still smell so very badly of chemicals.
I was in line at Nordstroms yesterday wearing the jeans thinking surely they can’t be too bad although I could still smell them. The ladies in line behind me starting remarking about ‘an odd odor coming
from somewhere. Well I was that that ‘odd odor. I slipped odut of line a went straight to the womens section and purchased a nice pair of odor free jeans that I wore out of the store.
Was my first and last experience with the jeans. They go out the the trash tomorrow. Cost me a total of about $75.00 to lean my lesson.
I returned the chambray vest with lace insert a few days ago. The smell was so horrific, I didn’t even take it out of the package. It was powerful , instant headache. Via e-mail I got a survey to take about Diane Gilman, it did ask if I had received clothes with strong chemical odors and even asked if I liked her. Ask for opinion on “If you could change anything or improve anything, what would it be”. I just stumbed onto this. I don’t know how it works. I have received a few garments I couldn’t or would not keep because of the smell. Via the survey, HSN know about the smelly scary chemical smell
I have had the same problem with the darker jeans. Someone needs to call and speak to her on-air about it apparently. Maybe embarrassing her and making her answer directly will get her to change. Very disappointed in HSN.
And I thought vanity sizing and inconsistent merchandise was the only problem w DG2! SMH. Glad u r happy w ur Giuliana jeans! She should start making diff lengths. She has good quality stuff.
Piggypoo sounds like the odor issue is still going strong after several years. I just received a pair of Guliana jeans, give them a try — no odor, good quality and fit. About $30.00 more and well worth it!!
Thank you Luv! I thought it was me. I just returned a black denim DG2 jacket today because of the horrific odor. When I opened the box the smell took over my apartment. I didn’t dare try it on. I don’t know how HSN is allowed to sell items with such a noxious smell. It can’t be safe. I love some Diane items but I will not risk my health and order any more denim. Shameful!
The comments given are bad. I am a horse ride.. Boots2Jeans is what I wear daily! If I saw the
comments I would think before I buy. I am not sure how positive this comentary is for the DG/HSN/
I really wonder if she cares as I have read about this issue for 3 years now & it is still going on yet people still continue to purchase her jeans. I stopped buying them because of the odor issue that you just can’t get washed out & then when you keep washing the black jeans even with Woolite to try to prevent color fade the jeans fade. I bought a pair & kept washing them to try to get the odor out with Woolite & they faded. It was past the 30 day mark so I couldn’t return them. I never got to wear them. Money totally wasted. As for the jeggings they just keep sliding down at the crotch area and I had to keep yanking up- again money wasted. I stopped buying them for these reasons. I really had hoped to find the perfect jeans. I really was hoping she would read these threads of the constant complaints & issues with the awful chemical odor & inconsistency in sizing & fix the problem but I guess as long as people continue to buy it won’t get fixed. No more buying & wasted money for me. Sorry for you ladies that are having the same problems.
Thanks for the infomation.:catindifferent:
Just got mine….7 pairs and all but one have the WORST ODOR!! Called HSN to complain and told them I would try and wash to get out, if it does not come out they are going back! White, black, tan and chambray. I have ordered her jeans and jeggings for years and NEVER had this problem…..wish Diane would address it or at least acknowledge and try and fix it. Too bad though
