Designers being opposed to designing pants with an inseam longer than 31-31 1/2in
When are designers going to realize that a lot of women require an inseam longer than 31/32 inches?? I can not wear pants with an inseam less than 33 inches. While I’m only 5ft 6in, I have very long legs. I don’t care how great a pair of pants fit, if they are not long enough, I will not purchase them. Designers, get with the program and service all shapes, sizes, and HEIGHTS!
I remember Marla Wynne saying she was aware of the requests from taller customers wanting a longer inseam but she hadn’t reached that level yet. I think the petite average & tall options are given to the designers who have proven their staying power and have high sales numbers especially those whose main focus is on pants, jeans, leggings etc. like DG2 and Yummy. It’s frusterating for all of us that don’t fall into the average category. Speaking as a tall girl (34" inseam) having the option to hem pants that are too long is better than having no option. Can’t do much with a 1/4" hem! Just sayin’
Designers are not opposed in the slightest; after all, they use inhumanly tall models.
*The store buyers* oppose this. HSN, for example, used to always sell petite and tall inseams; but then they decided that it is easier to make money by ignoring us the short and the tall gals. I am sure the super rich HSN executives expect us shorter gals to just cough up the money to have the pants hemmed (around here, it’s $20) and if they cannot be hemmed, they exoect us and the tall girls to just go and screw ourselves. It is not designers, it is HSN and other store buyers.
That being said, Melissa McCarthy’s pants are 34", check them out.
Hi nesandiego! :smileyhappy:
Your complaint is similar to mine (length wise) since I can’t seem to find 29 inch in petites too much. I think you have to broaden your search perimeters because those longer lengths are out there. I see them everywhere. One example is Nieman Marcus’ outlet "last call." Another is Ann Taylor and so many more. You might not find these lengths on HSN on a regular basis, but they are out there.
Tahari, Theory, Michael Kors, Lafayette 148, New York. I think going where model-esque heights are likely sold (higher end) will give you an abundance of options in those lengths. While in your shopping endeavors on line and off, if you see petite styles let us know! I’m always looking to expand my pickings. LOL.
I understand. I need a longer inseam also. I would´ve bought a couple of Yummie sets but the inseam for the boot cut would fit more like crop pants. So I passed.
We´ve been asking HSN for longer & petites for years but our pleas are falling on deaf ears. I´m guessing they don´t want our business.
I have just the opposite issue.I am short and so many do not design for petite length. It is getting better though.I would have liked to have nice long legs but it didn’t happen so we are what we are.I agrre with needing ALL lengths. So many clothes that I would like to have that I pass up due to the length.
