This is a tough style to wear. Not much of a fan but yes, ENOUGH!
The style is totally unflattering unless you have extremely broad shoulders, or are wearing a garment the exact color of your shoulders so the sharp color delineation is not apparent. The hole in the shoulder balances out nothing, especially when garment bottoms are floaty, asymmetrical, and bulked up with lace, ruffles, pleats and chiffon, etc.
This style will have a short life, then—-what do you do with dated clothes that can never be altered?.
If you want to show off your shoulders, buy styles that can be worn off or on the shoulders.
Remember the high and wide shoulder pads on blouses, jackets and coats? For a few short years, that style was nearly all you could find. Every one I purchased, I immediately had tailored to remove the hideous over sized pads.Because of that, my clothing is still wearable.
In a short time, the only way to wear this style will be with a shawl or some kind of top to hide your exposed shoulders. With the wide bottoms of the cold shouldered blouses, it will be a nearly impossible look to achieve.
Do not study the models wearing these clothes—they are chosen for their broad shoulders, study the hosts or designers who may have more narrow shoulders and see how they look in the garments.
