Upgrade or New Windows Program?
Currently I have Vista Home, I need to new up.
I want to purchase Windows 8 or 8.1. Is there a difference between upgrading vs purchasing new Windows program? The reason I’m asking, some products say upgrade and others don’t.
According to Microsoft, you can upgrade from Vista to 8.1 if your computer meets the system requirements, which are:
Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster
RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
Free hard drive space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver
Personally, I’d buy a new computer.
8.1 is current and fixed some of the problems in 8.0
8.0 is not current and will not be supported shortly, it currently requires tons of updates. I’m surprised you’re seeing new units with with prior 8.1
