Tracfone minites cards and customer service
Just a few words of caution. I purchased 2 triple minutes phones from HSN about 8 months ago. We have really enjoyed our Tracfones with no issues until now. Instead of going online to purchase additional minutes I purchased a card at a local retail store. In trying to install the minutes on one of my phones online tracfone says this card will not work on my android phone. I called Tracfone and they say there is nothing they and do and I need to return the card to the retailer. But guess what! The retailer don’t give refunds phone cards. So I’m out $131.00. I emailed Tracfone and they replyed by giving me a pin number to use when calling and talking to their customer service. I called and got no help at all. The customer service rep who says he was a manager said there is absolutly nothing they can do. Somebodys got my money and I have no minutes The Tracfone card display in the store offers several cards and the one I purchased says this is the best deal. 800 minutes with double minutes on future purchases. Nowhere on the display or on the card does it say it will not work with my phone so I feel I’ve been dupted. I never asked Tracfone for a refund all I needed was my minutes. If you purchase a Tracfone Please proceed with caution and good luck. The next sound you here is this phone hitting a brick wall. I’m going back to Verizon.
Try your local BBB. Companies hate BBB complaints and will do what it takes to resolve your problem to your satisfaction.
Hey thanks for all your friendly replys. I’ve waited a week hoping to hear from HSN after I notified them about my issue. They said they were concerned and would pass it on to their leadership team but that ended there. I did’nt really expect HSN to resolve this problem. I just wanted to make sure they know the shady business they are in bed with. I’m done and are in the process of researching other non-contract phone services. Again thanks for your concern. Gutz
I bought a track phone and card from a store before and ended up with problems. threw the phone away. never again.
Interesting and informative article on Msn home page…. Caption… Cell phones are dead..8 things to do…
I have a trac phone and set up of the new phone if carrying over minutes and current phone number can be challenging if you need to call in to tracfone. I buy minutes on line from tracfone. I have a land line/home phone with Verizon as well.
I got my mom a tracfone and it has been a big headache for her dealing w/ their customer service.
gutz658, call Tracfone’s corporate office at 1-800-625-4883 ext. 3324. I had a situation when I bought an Acatel A546C ( Acatel Touch pop Icon) back in February. I emailed HSN Wireless and they upped it to Tracfone. I was contacted by Corporate and the problem was fixed. Granted it took a month because I also wanted my number from the phone I transferred my minutes from to the new phone. Two times Tracfone reverted my minutes back to 959 minutes, and two times I called corporate and got my 2659 minutes back plus a little extra for my frustration. Make sure you ask for compensation ie. 100 minutes and more months added to your end date. Sometimes Tracfone will add 15 or 20 days without you asking. TAKE NOTE: Android phones can not use coupon codes to add bonus minutes. What I am saying is: A non Android phone has all minutes in one bucket. They phone can be double or triple minutes. If you add minutes using a 1 year card with 400 minutes, and have a triple minute phone like the Acatel A546C, you get 1200 minutes talk, 1200 minutes text and 1200 minutes data. If you have a coupon for 200 bonus minutes you CAN NOT USE it!!! If you have a Tracfone non Android phone the one year card with 400 minutes on a double or triple Tracfone will be 800 minutes or 1200 minutes. The minutes are all in one bucket. You can use a coupon code for bonus minutes on non Android Tracfones. If you have an older tracfone all you get is 1 year and 400 minutes, but you can add a bonus coupon. Bookmark Tracfone Reviewer. Post here if I have confused you. Be well, Luelue.
Wow, that is terrible! I’ve had several TracFones over the years and have learned that things either go smoothly or get completely messed up and Customer Service simply washes their hands of it. I got a new phone at Christmas and transferred my number and airtime (both TracFones, both purchased at HSN) and the airtime did not transfer. I spent days getting the runaround from CS and just gave up and took the loss of over 600 minutes.
I hope you get this resolved in your favor. I’m starting to think that if they defraud every customer out of a few dollars or a bundle of airtime then they must be showing quite a profit:smileysad:
Gutz658, I’m sorry to hear of the problem you are having with the minutes you recently purchased. I’ wondering if the problem is that you purchased a phone with 3x the minutes for the life of the phone. You said the minutes you recently purchased were 800 minutes with double minutes. I don’t think you can use a double minutes card on a phone that is set up for triple minutes. You might want to double check that with Tracfone. Since you can’t return the cards, you might want to try and find a cheap Tracfone that is set up for double minutes. Atleast you won’t be out the $131 you spent on the double minutes cards.
The more i read of all issues with tracfones, the more i am inclined not to buy any in the future…
I have not experience at all with them and feel they are not for me…
As gutzz658 posted i too will go back to Verizon. They are my carrier for my land and basic flip cell phone…
I did purchase the LG Sunset 4.5LT Andriod TS one… I did a thread on it last week… The replies from several were really very disturbing.. I did not open the package as i am contemplating sending it back…
To add i also decided to include the 2yr sevice plan from Hsn… I am having problems trying contact the company. Automated machine said they are not open do to something going on there..
That really makes me very nervous….
Very strange as there are letter not normal Ups Usps or even Fed Express…
So who know’s what is going on with that..
Anyway so sorry gutz658 hope you do get your issue resolved
Gutz658, do you still have your little red instructional booklets that came with your Tracfones? In the LG5 Sunset phone I recently purchased, it indicates there are several ways to add airtime. One is to buy an airtime card by either going to TracFone.com, calling their 800 number,OR
"SHOP AT LOCAL RETAILERS (find store locations at TracFone.com). If your booklet states that you can get a card at a local store, then they MUST give you those minutes.
I have been using Tracfone for a few years and like it but if you need customer service it is almost non existant.I always go to the website and add the cheapest card then at check out there is always additional offers for more minutes and a years airtime.I check the $49 for a year of airtime service and then choose from the minute deals that are offered.Always cheaper than buying a card.
If you can get the ‘right’ customer service person that will actually try to help they can add your card manually.I would try calling back and ask if they would do that.
Did you pay by credit or debit card? Call your financial and see if you can stop/reverse payment.
Paid cash? Get a hold of your local and/or state Attorney general…and contact the FCC (Federal Communications Commission).
Who was the local retailer? If it was small and local, sue them in small claims court. If a national retailer, contact their headquarters.
Hearing that a Tracfone card won’t work on an Android based phone makes no sense…aren’t their phones Android anyway (anyone?)
If you contact Tracfone again, ask for a higher up office that deals with fraud…if they won’t transfer your call (you would need to do this most likely M-F 9A-4P in the time zone where ever they are headquartered) get the snail mail address…keep copies and records of each and every call.
In each and every contact, remain calm and concise…I think the word fraud is better than using scam or rip off…don’t rant or rave but be firm and follow up.
I am so sorry for you, and appreciate your warning. I’d contact HSN and ask for their help. After all, they sold the product and need to keep customers happy. If Tracfone doesn’t make good on this issue, it can discourage many people from making purchases of their phones from HSN in the future. Word does get around.
I’m still trying to get my LG Sunset phone set up; have been trying for 3 days with no success. If purchasing additional minutes is going to be an issue, this will be the worst purchase from HSN I’ve ever made!
