Tracfone LG Optimus Fuel deal with 1200 minutes, texts, data
I recently ordered this for my father, but it hasn’t arrived yet. He is a current Tracfone custromer with a basic flip phone. He actually has no interest in having a smartphone. However, his minutes are about to expire in the next few months and I figured this was a really affordable way to renew his service for the next year. I have a question in regards to the 1200 text mesages included. I intend to activate the new phone just long to enough to add the minutes to his account and switch him back to the flip phone he is comfortable with. I know that once the minutes are added to the account they will move back and forth between phones, but will the texts and data transfer to the flip phone as well?
I have an older tracfone( slider phone)..with over 6000 airtime minutes on it!..As you can tell..I rarely use it..I buy a 1 year airtime card plus bonus minutes you can find online..So they just keep adding up..
Living in the mountains..service is spotty in my home..So it’s for emergencies or travel..
My kids have expensive plans they live in the "big" city"..and for what it’s worth my tracfone has better service than they do..here..
I would love to upgrade..but touch screens don’t work well here in the super cold temps we have here..I don’t like having to be forced into a plan with data..something that I do not use at all..!
Any other options? Or ideas..
A question..Do the android phones ..need to have security..like you pc?
My fiber optic DSL is hard wired..Wireless anthing here is spotty at best!
Well, the phone came in yesterday and, my questions were answered. I can transfer the remaining minutes from my father’s current flip phone to the android phone, but not the other way. The paperwork that came with the phone specifically states that the existing balance of any android phone is not transferable to non android phones. Unfortunately, as a result, i had to return the phone. Figured this might be useful information for anyone considering these android phone bundles.
That’s a great question, jamminjj.
When you go from a older tracfone to an Android tracfone, tracfone takes your balance on the old phone and gives you the equivalent of that in calling minutes, text messages, and data. For example, if your old phone has 450 minutes remaining, and you activate the new smartphone, tracfone gives you 450 minutes for calling + 450 text messages + 450 MB of web browsing). That’s on top of the 1200/1200/1200 you get with the new phone.
I would think that since the non-Android tracfone phones only have "airtime minutes" and not call/text/data minutes, that they would transfer the number of "call" minutes you have on your smart phone back to your older flip phone. So if you don’t use the new phone, and then went back and re-activated the old one, you’d end up with whatever the old balance was plus 1200 minutes.
I’m guessing though. When you find out for certain, please post back and let us know what they say.
Hello jamminjj, I would recommend reaching out to The Wireless Center with your questions at 888-222-8484. They provide the service package for the phone you purchased and will be able to answer all of your questions.
