Why am I being charged more than the advertised price?
I placed an order with multiple items last night and when checking my bank account today, it is showing I am being charged pretty much double what the advertised price should have been. When I called customer service, I was told that the system charges the full price and then refunds the amount to make the correct price as the charge. I have a real problem with this. The rep said that this can take up to another 48 hours to clear up…meanwhile, the full amount is showing as a debit on my account. The money is not available in my account. HSN, what is going on? This could cause serious repercussions for people who have autopay for bills set up…this money won’t be there for bills to be paid. How is this legitimate? I’ve been shopping with HSN for years and have not seen this happen before. This is extremely disconcerting.

@dawnz01, I’m sorry to hear that this happened to you! I was able to confirm that the item was at a lower price however the sale price ended on the item about an hour before your order was actually completed. Due to you selecting FlexPay on the order, I don’t have a way to issue a refund back to your original method of payment for the difference in cost on the items as that amount has yet to be paid on the orders, however I was able to place a store credit, Spendable Ka$h, on your account for the difference in cost. If you give us a call at 800-284-3900 (8 AM to 1 AM EST), you should be able to apply the Spendable Ka$h towards your future FlexPays on the order or you can use the amount towards a future purchase.
I had a similar issue yesterday..i saw a dress i liked,i put two in my shopping cart (approx $55 each on sale/special) I continued shopping,looking for shoes to wear with them,didnt find any so moved on to pay for the dresses and the cart price had changed to the full price.I called and asked about this.I wasnt mistaken as I had written the item number and price down right from the cart.When i called,the rep told me at first “well sometimes sales end etc. I said well it was already in my cart, i was just searching hsn for the shoes to wear with the dresses.She said she looked back an hour and it had never been the price i claimed, (implying i was lying or something ?) I still have that price that had been in my cart written down.I was so angry,and considered cancelling the order but instead used flex pay.Im no and was really upset. Now considering closing my hsn account
That is sad really..The way HSN charges and refunds,etc is why I rarely shop here.Its just plain wrong for any company to bill you more than you agree to and then hold your money even on cancelled orders for days…I refuse to have a company hold my funds and use them when I can’t.I hope you don’t get overdraft charges from your bank.If it isn’t illegal it should be.
Sorry for the confusion this has caused @papayamom. We do authorize for the full amount before special sale or coupon discounts are applied. Then once the orders process, it will reflect the correct amount as charged.
