used laptops sold as "new"
I purchased a “new” laptop from HSN but when I received it and tried to register it, turns out the laptop was used and had pornographic material downloaded from the previous owner. This would have been a very bad situation had this been purchased for a minor. I have contacted corporate 5 times and no one is willing to exchange this laptop. I had to take it to Best Buy Geek Squad so they could return the unit to factory settings. This cost me $150…. rediculous.
This whole situation is appalling but made more so due to HSN’s pathetic excuse of how to “help”.
I would contact your local Post Office General and report HSN as conducting Mail Fraud. Also, did Best Buy contact the authorities regarding what was downloaded in the event there were images of minors? If so, HSN may have more problems than they think.
You can NOT sell something used that is advertised as NEW. It’s fraud. Take legal action, Disgruntled9; you have more power than you realize.
@disgrunteled9, I’m so sorry for the frustration! I see where you have called several times regarding the issue. For the inconvenience of having to get the laptop restored, I can offer you $30. Let me know if you would like for me to process the refund.
Wow that is hilarious, Jordan! I have had issues with HSN representatives since February and none seem sympathetic to the fact that you guys sold me a new laptop but shipped out a used laptop. I paid for NEW… I received USED!! The laptop was previously registered to another owner who downloaded pornographic pictures and video onto it and didn’t remove all of that before he returned the laptop. Obviously you guys don’t check for things like that and you don’t make sure that returned electronics are set back to factory settings before sending them back out as new product. I spoke with Krissy on March 6th and she offered to remove the last two payments from my account. I just paid $150 to Best Buy Geek Squad to have them reset this laptop to factory settings and remove the and nasty garbage that was installed by the previous owner. $30 will not satisfy me at this time. Make a better offer….
I think you should call this number ********** The customer service supervisors supervisors…lol
**Edited by HSN: Removed phone number to comply with HSN Community Guidelines.**
disgruntled9 ugh so sorry to read this. Your problem is worse than mine. Iwould definitely do something about it. That is not only horrible, but illegal as others posted.
