UPS Surepost is a Nightmare!
Is there a way to ensure that my orders are sent completely UPS? I really, really dislike having the post office involved, it usually doesn’t work smoothly. I have had packages delayed as much as five (5) days until the carrier feels like putting the package in their mailbag. We waited for delivery, then instead of delivering a notice was left.(FYI, this lady babysits her grandkids during the day and is always home.) We called the post office and rescheduled delivery, they never showed. We called the next morning, and was told the mext day. Five days later we went to the post office and they said it was out for delivery. Two days later, back to the post office. Oops, here it is. This was the worst so far, but packages are regularly delayed. HOW CAN I AVOID SUREPOST?!?!
DebS1952, There are options; but you have to expect to pay more for the service. (Personally, I’ve been very happy with UPS Surepost and the money it saves me; but I know there are people who don’t have good postal service like I do..)
The following is from the FAQ’s at the bottom of HSN’s web pages (the emphasis is mine):
“We have several shipping options to meet your delivery needs:
Most orders for in-stock items are processed within 24 hours and delivered 3 – 7 business days from your order date.
Standard deliveries are made by either UPS or the United States Post Office.
All Express orders for in-stock items are processed within 24 hours and delivered within 3 business days from your order date.
Express deliveries are made by UPS.
Super Express Delivery:
All Super Express orders for in-stock items are processed within 24 hours and delivered within 2 business days from your order date.
Super Express deliveries are made by UPS.”
Another option if you want to use standard shipping instead of paying for the speedy services is to sign up with UPS for “My Choice.” When you do that, you will receive an email if an item is scheduled to be transferred to USPS. If you prefer to have it delivered by UPS, you can change your delivery. If you use the free “My Choice” option, the change will cost $3.50. If you have a lot of deliveries, it would probably pay to sign up for the paid service. In that case, there is no charge to change your delivery.
Since the HSN Member usually pays for shipping then if they pay for their own shipping of an item HSN should give them options and choices as to how they wish to pay and carrier they can freely chose to ship their items to their location.
Starting out as UPS and then switching over to UPS Sure Post, which is Postal USPS only delays the item by many days, many times my experience has been that even my Postal Depot Manager postal cannot trace where the missing item is, even with the tracking #, and was embarrassed when he told me this on many occasions. Sure enough my package was either lost or stolen, but in any event I never received it nor ever found out from USPS exactly what happened to it, and in that regard USPS is hopeless and has been ever since the 9/11 WTC terrorist attack.
When people remain frustrated and do not receive their ordered items, and are denied a service they want and paid for, they tend to turn to other companies who can offer more shipping options and choices.
When something is shipped UPS it should remain UPS and be delivered by UPS, and not passed over to some other carrier which only disappoints and delays the delivery, or loses the item, or steals the item.
In any event if I don;t receive it, I also don;t honor the payment. but still Consumer frustration should be avoided at all costs by every company, especially when they read and hear customer complaints.
“A satisfied customer is a return customer, and that says it all relative to higher Corporate profit margins”.
“Also a satisfied customer is the best free form of advertising every Company can hope for”.
This changing delivery carriers en route is really very bad business HSN, and carrier and shipping options should always be available for all HSN Members..
@debs1952 I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’ve had with Surepost. Unfortunately we don’t have any way to guarantee a shipping method. If you’re having trouble once it reaches your local Post office you may want to call your post master and let them know.
