I have an TWO unauthorized “authorizations” on my account for transactions totaling MORE than my full order.
I chose flexpay and was presented with a “billed today” of ~$15 yet HSN submitted two authorizations totaling ~$42 AND that’s more than the email confirmation of the full order total. Vented to my close relative who is a bank branch manager and she was stunned and didn’t understand how HSN thinks they can do this.
Chat rep was dismissive, but phone rep was understanding and didn’t know how they came up with those numbers. She was great so I’m taking her suggestion to wait til midnight then call back to see what they could do. Doesn’t help my account being down $27, but….
Can’t cancel cause I’ll lose the discount and the hold won’t be immedately released anyway.
Not the fault of customer service, but HSN is gettin on my last nerve today with the non-existent free shipping until late this morning that started at midnight.

Every time I have ordered using a coupon or free shipping I always see an authorization for the full amount without any discount. Then once the order is processed the discount will show and I am charged the correct amount. The first time that happened I was a little shocked and contacted them and was told the discount drops off when the final total is submitted for payment.Somewhat odd but need to plan to be charged the full amount until its deducted.I haven’t ordered from anyplace else that does it that way. Not very fair to the customer for sure.
Thanks. I plan to be charged what my order review and subsequent order confirmation screens display. Particularly when the amounts are specifically labeled “Order Total” then “Amount Billed Today.”
We’re not talking about mail-in rebates or some sort of rewards cashback.
But the amount is not even correct. And the CSR on the phone couldn’t work out that math either. None of it adds up and it’s not authorized despite their line of “explanation.”
When I noticed this, I called and asked about the incorrect charges also. It is a bit odd that they don’t charge your card the correct amount, whether it’s pending or not. I end up going back to my credit card online to check on it after final charges have processed. It is a hassle. Reminds me that I shop too much here.
