Too Many Unnecessary and unwanted e-mails
HSN! PLEASE stop sending me unnecessary and unwanted e-mails. Concentrate instead on getting my purchase to me in a timely fashion. I ordered a TS two weeks ago and it still has not arrived. It seems that as soon as I place my order, I can’t cancel it but it doesn’t get shipped for at least a week. I’m unhappy about all of this. HOWEVER, HSN sale prices are good. So thank you for that.
Thx for sharing ur thoughts on your Joy purchases ? ?. They will be helpful for those who r not familiar w her bags. I lost trust in Joy w my 1st purchase a few yrs ago – those cheap hangers. I’m sorry u were both disappointed.
I got my Joy bag and duffle bag Thurs. also. My son bought it . I was very disappointed . Was leaving for a trip and needed the large duffel . It’s going back today because it didn’t smell like a leather or feel like a leather and the whole thing seem cheap to me. The duffel was better constructed than the bag was . It had a China label on it but I guess everything nowadays is made there whether it’s quality or not . I ordered the blush also . I have liked the majority of joys products especially her wax candle jars and plug ins. I’m disappointed to hear the hangers don’t hold up as I was about to order those . They seem to get good reviews .
Hi there! This sounds like a great way to pass the time together! Any special projects on the horizon?
I appreciate the convenience and opportunity to buy great products from HSN. My quality issues have been mainly with Mangano and Rhonda Shear offerings. I keep hoping for improvement because their product ideas are so appealing. Still, I don’t like the disappointment or the hassle to return. HSN has wonderful customer service whenever I need to call or email them so I keep ordering.
I don’t think "poor quality" is only a HSN issue. I see it at most all of the stores.I was shopping for a simple t-shirt. I could not find any high quality t-shirts. For many, the material was so thin that you could see through it or it was material that would not last. On many, the side seams weren’t even straight but twisted around. I would pay extra for a well made t-shirt but I couldn’t find one. I think that all of the retailers are focused on price instead of quality. Until we stop buying it, they aren’t going to change.
I have had some returns with HSN. I haven’t had any issue with the quailty of the clothing so much as the inconsistent sizing. I try really hard to look at the sizing charts and the read the reviews for clues as to the correct sizing but still have issues. The worst offender in this issue for me had been Diane Gillman clothing. I don’t order it anymore because I could never seem to get the size right. I did just score with a Sigrid Olsen cardigan that is the softest most comfortable, quality cardigan that I have ever had. Even with that order, I normally wear a large and based on the reviews, I ordered a medium which fits great.
So for me its a mixed bag. There seem to be quality issues at all retailers. We just need to be aware of it. I do really like the information obtainable at HSN both through customer reviews and through this forum. Those have really been a huge help.
There have been some items that I have had to return. After calling HSN, they have always been able to approve a return and credit me the shipping charge for the return. I have been able to minimize my cost of returns by not purchasing items that are the today special or a special price when the item is new to HSN, by waiting to purchase until there are ratings on the item. Sometime it is worth the extra price to pay after you read the ratings. When the items is on clothing and I am not sure about he sizing, I also wait to purchase the item. When I purchase an item that I am not sure of the sizing , where I would normally purchase one of each color, I now purchase one, try it out, If I am happy with it, then order the additional items. Yes it will cost more, but not any more than what it would cost for return shipping. I am very pleased with HSN and what it sells.
For the most part my purchases have included electronics, jewelry and mattress pads from HSN. Yes, there are times that I must return items. And yes, I have kept some things that were so so. That being said, I must remember that HSN sells thousands and thousands of items each day. There are only so many things that can be inspected by their Quality Control Department. For the most part, I believe it is up to the manufacturer to check each and every thing that goes through their factory/warehouse and to check that clasps work on each jewelry piece, that stones are set properly, that the seams on clothing/linens are sewn just right, that the shrinkage in the material is non existant, that the sizing whether in jewelry, clothing, linens, is correct, etc. etc..My theory has always been that when something goes bad it is a reflection on the person or people who designed it. It is their responsibility to see that the goods are of the finest quality from the inception to the final product.
My main gripe with HSN’s QC is that when something is returned, they should either repair it or return it to the manufacturer and not resend it to another customer in that same condition. Too often I have read reviews that say a stone is scratched or marred and then weeks later it seems someone else has reported the identical thing. It’s up to HSN to make the manufacturer accountable in every way. Case Closed……
The vast majority of items I’ve ordered, I’ve been thrilled with. Have I returned things? Yes; mainly jewelry- I no longer order that from HSN as I’ve never been satisfied with the quality of the stones/workmanship. However, items for the home (India Hicks, Wolfgang Puck, Huggable Hangers/closet organization, blankets) have been top quality. Iman clothing and Vince Camuto items…love! I always check here or at QVC for items before going local retail as the prices /sets are usually better deal between these 2 places.
As for the letter: stupid to tick off good customers, HOWEVER, there ARE those who return constantly (saw that at Nordstroms when I worked there)…you have to **bleep** that in the bud.
Now and then I do returned things. However almost always I am very pleased with my purchases.
I find unique fashion, jeweley, and accessories items here. I do not see myself coming and going.
Through the many years here, I have weeded out some lines and things I will never purchase again.
I miss Randolph Duke ,Terry Lewis, and Carolyn Strauss, they were awesome.
I love HSN
I only bought a sheet set from India Hicks, and while the sheets are thicker than I would like, they are pretty decent, and hold up to washing on hot splendidly both in color and size.
Strange that today I am experiencing a lot of disgust with Hsn’s merchandise and returning many boxes. Seems Hsn is not very concerned as to the merchandise they are buying these days that have flaws and poor quality. And Hsn gets testy with members returning their products…what does Hsn expect of the loyal customers, that we will accept cheap, poorly made items with high prices??/…I DONT THINK SO. And to top off the insult to their customers, they recieve a threatening letter of their many returns. GEEESH! Who is running this company anyway??? My beef is with the "Soft and Cozy wraps I ordered in bulk for many friends and family for Christmas and find out when washing these wraps, they fall apart, become thin flimsy wraps I am EMBARRASSED to give as gifts. I do not give cheap poor quality gifts and am sure many other members are just as concerned as to what they give as a gift. I have read the reviews that complain of the same issue…POOR QUALITY. So I am returning to the box stores locally to buy gifts because this method enables me to see the item before I ship it out and know I selected a quality gift they do not have to worry about falling apart after they wash it. I cannot believe Hsn allows this crap merchandise to go out and think members are going to accept it. This is NOT the Hsn I used to know years ago and sorry to see Hsn take this approach that bad quality merchandise is okay to sell.
Thank you for the heads up ladies…I do not think I will buy any sheets, jewelry and a few other things from ANY shopping channel. By far I mostly buy what I call "safe items" (skincare, hair care,) from HSN, QVC and occasionally Evine but never buy textiles and electronics from any of them. Shipping is expensive on some large items to send back and I will send back if things do not fit or are of poor quality. Only a few times I have kept items that I didnt like and never throw them in the trash but I donated them to Purple Heart (benefits the veterans) and other charitable organizations. I do not buy much at all anymore as I have become more disabled and do not need many things anymore. Thanks for the post.
Thanks for your repsonses and support ladies. I just went to the local store the one that carries brand names for less and bought a sheet set home of the famus designer RL for $25.00 instead of 39.99 with great quality. I am also not afraid to pay more for quality. I guess I will play safe and stick with the few vendors I know I can always count on, such as Haidi Daus, Lancome or J. Boyce. No more textile/fabric products from hsn.
Couple of months ago I purchased a popular garment from evine. It was/ is a Beautiful design and thin but nice mateial. The price was a little high, but reasonable. Here’s the problem : There was Not a finished seam or hem Anywhere! Threads and strings were dangling all around. There were many complaints about it but most of us kept it. In fact, I ordered two more of them. The colors, design ( unfinished) fit were desirable.
What I’ve figured out is that the channels and vendors don’t have tens of thousands of these items lying around on shelves. As they get the many orders, then they are manufactured, or completed. Having to get ten thousand to 100 thousand orders out in a couple of days … there Will be unfinished hems and other imperfections slipping through. – IMO.
( I’ve never returned anything either).
