The 1.5 cup rice cooker
I just received the cooker and am very disappointed with the cookbook/manual that came with it. I do not remember seeing any beets or cabbage cooked in the demo. And the items that sold me on this item are nowhere to be found in the booklet. I think that is unfair and false advertising.
Then when I tried to find the cookbook — that is an extra purchase, I find that many people are unhappy with it. It seems to be poorly constructed and falls apart easily.
Are recipes for this item available anywhere else? Or should I just send it back.
I have always been happy with Woldgang Puck items, but I feel that I have been taken advantage of with this item and the way it was advertised.
I bought the cooker as being senior citizen cooking for one and in senior housing which means extremely small amounts of storage space I thought this cooker would be ideal. That I could take it with me was an added bonus. I also had bought WP cookers and other items in the past.
Not only have I gone through the same thing as you and feel as cheated as you, I was searching for recipes for it and ended up here. What a waste of money. I will never again recommend WP products or buy them myself after this experience. He won’t care, he has his millions and his reputation was made as a chef not as an appliance maker.
Well since there are no recipes here for it, I will just give up and go on my way.
Hope you have found some of the receipes you promised to look for. I am anxious to try te rice cooker.
The recipes in the book that comes with the cooker are really not what we saw in the presetation. I bought the cooker AND the book. However, even the extra book is a disappointment.
For instance, instructions in the cooker booklet tells you all about the fact that the measuring cup with the cooker, is calibrated to ASIAN standard (6oz) measuring cups…and goes on to tell you just how to use it, and that you must use it and NOT a standard (8oz) U.S. measuring cup.
The extra cook book also explains the difference between the ASIAN calibrated (6oz) measuring cup that you receive vs. a U.S. STANDARD (8 oz) cup…and then goes on to tell you…
‘BUT THAT NONE OF THE RECIPES IN THIS BOOK WERE MADE USING THE ASIAN 6OZ CUP THAT CAME WITH THE COOKER’ and that you will need to use a STANDARD U.S. (8oz) measuring cup.
So…you’re being given two completely different instructions for this cooker. No place during Wolfgang’s presentation does he ever tell you this. He contnually shows you meals using the cup that comes with the cooker. Why then…did he approve of…and SELL…an extra purchase book that uses a DIFFERENT SIZED measuring cup???? And so…the recipe measurements in the cooker booklet directly contradicts all the recipes in the extra purchase cook book.
So now…when I make rice…which measurements do I use??? The 6oz cup with the cooker, or the instructions for the exact recipes for rice in the extra purchase book that instructs to use your regular 8oz measuring cup? Believe me, the extra book does NOT recalibrate the original Asian measurements by giving you different RICE measurements that would compensate for the difference in LIQUID Oz. measurements in these two cups. Nor has Wolfie done it for any of the other recipes either.
I do love my cooker. But only for rice. And I use the rice measurements found in the cooker booklet for this. I think we were continually mislead by Wolfgang throughout the whole 24 hours his cooker was sold as the TS. I gave the extra book to my niece, and found many recipes for the cooker online by googling ‘Wolfgang rice cookers’. You can find the booklets for all his cookers online and can filter through the pages…and will find a lot of extra recipes that way. Not sure if the recipes in the extra purchase book are in there…but some of them are.
As for the extra book…the one I gave my niece was defective (a printing defect) and HSN was wonderful in exchanging it for me…but now I realize the problems within the difference in measurements. HSN’s replacement is in transit to my home, so I suppose I’ll be stuck with a book for my niece that contradicts everything we were shown during the presentation. Bottom line, I feel like I threw my money out for this book.
I’m sure this was not HSN’s fault, although someone…someplace…should have caught this glaring error and instructed Wolfgang to at lease explain this WHILE he was pushing his extra cookbook on air. The fault falls entirely on Wolfgang for KNOWINGLY not presenting his product with Full Disclosure. Agreed…a terrible disappointment.
duppa, I’m sorry you did not find the recipes you were looking for. I’m checking to see if we can make the presentation recipes available for you. However, if you are not happy with your Rice Cooker for any reason, we’ll be happy to receive your return and issue a refund with our 30 day in-home return program. I hope you decide to keep this product, but I understand if you decide it’s not for you.
