Square Trade Warranties that HSN sells are not good!
I purchased a 3 year warranty from HSN on an printer. HSN advertises that the warranties they sell are good for if you drop an item, spills, anything is covered for the period of the warranty.
I called HSN to confirm this prior to calling the warranty company. The warranty company indicated the only thing they cover on computers, printers, phones, etc would be electrical or mechanical.
HSN do not sell a warranty and advertise it to cover things the warranty does not cover. That is the main reason that I purchase my items with warranties from HSN is because of the way they advertise the Warranty.
So I paid for a 3 year warranty, I have had the printer since November of this last year. I had an accident with it and according to HSN it is covered and when they transferred me to the warranty company, they indicate it is not.
I have now lost my trust in what HSN sells and take nothing they say on the air as being true. This was a sell pitch that I purchased and they even confirmed it when I called them today. But the warranty company stated that HSN is selling something that is not true. Which is it HSN or the warranty company.
please advise me as to why this was advertised as being a warranty to cover drops and spills and accidental damage and the exact words of the warranty company is as follows: we only cover electrical and mechanical issues. HSN does not cover plans for accidental damage. They do not cover items that have been accidentally damaged, commercial-use items (which mine was not), altered items, or items used for purpose of other than those stated in the manufacture’s specifications.
Wow, good to know. Over the years consumer advocates have always said that paying for warranties was not worthwhile. I guess this is another example of this but it is surprising that HSN would promote such a bad product and sadder still that they permit their hosts to says things that are patently false.
I know Square Trade takes the $ and runs.
I purchased 2 Ipad warranties and android cell phone warranties, as well as other electrical items like refrigerators, dishwashers, etc, and Square Trade always found some excuse not to honor anything, so I no longer buy any warranties from them at all. Forget the drop and spills warranties they are worthless!!!
I always read Google, and Square Trade to date still does not honor many warranties for numerous items consumers buy.
Square Trade has so many consumer complaints on the internet, and with various State Attorney General’s that it is a disgrace that they are still in business!!!
People need to become more aware and use Google before purchasing,.
I always check the BBB in my State before doing business with a company to see their rating or if they are even listed with the BBB, as many companies are not, and that is for their benefit.
I believe the best referrals comes from friends and family members who have purchased warranties which have been honored.
thank you, The warranty company has already cancelled my warranty. They indicated because it was something they do not cover and I made a claim, they would have to cancel the warranty. I believe that is the last of my purchases with hsn, I whish I had not purchased the other warranties, I feel like I have just thrown money away for nothing. And now that HSN is part of QVC, and they sell the same warranty, I will be done with them also. I will pay off my accounts and then do away with HSN unless something is done to make this good. I purchased the warranty in good faith and expected HSN to sell the warranty in good faith and not represent something it was not. That has ruined my trust in any further purchases.
@judiwonder, we’re truly sorry for this experience. I understand your disappointment in finding out your warranty doesn’t cover your purchase. We want you to be confident in purchasing from us.
I went ahead and escalated this for you. You should receive communication regarding your warranty within 7 to 10 business days.
