Shame on Mike Mezack and coin show
i have bought coins from you before. And I buy coins directly from The US Mint. On your show August 21 2016 at approximately 1:30 am you were talking about the 5 ounce quarters You stated the Mint only sells to AP. Well I am not an AP and the mint sells me the 5 ounce quarters And have been since the program started. Embellishment is one thing but not being forthright is another You even mentioned it a couple times and even after Helen thought you were an AP. And your prices are different than on your infomercials I’ve seen. Maybe an apology is due to the shoppers watching and given the wrong info
So no more coins from HSN for me

I agree shame on Mike; Today I turned on the show by accident and decided to watch for a just a minute, he was selling older pre-1964 silver US coins. Now pre-1964 silver coins are all 90% silver (except the cent and nickel) but this guy is selling it by the pound. The price is 5 pounds for 1999.00. Good deal right? Wrong?
First of all precious metals are weighed in troy ounces not regular English pounds and ounces. The troy ounce (oz t) is a unit of imperial measure, now commonly used to measure the mass (weight, in common parlance) of precious metals. One troy ounce is defined as exactly 31.1034768 g, which may be used to denote the value of a precious metal. So using an online calculator I divided 5 pounds and came up with a total of 72 troy ounces.
Silver is selling at app. $15.25 per ounce and at most reputable coin and metal dealers you will pay app a dollar over spot for an ounce. I priced out 72 ounces at 3 different places and guess what the price was within a few bucks folks:
Total Price with Shipping $1206 Yep that is a $793 difference and Mike makes you pay for shipping too.
What about the 2019 Apollo 50th Anniversary Robin’s Metal 1/2 oz Gold Coin PF70 MATTE Finish?
Mike Mezack is the man! If you don’t appreciate his coin shows than don’t watch it. The Coin community needs people like him! I am 29 years old and not many people my age appreciate coins…. I owe all that to Mike! I’ve been collecting since I was 18 because of Mike’s inspiration to me on coins. Thank you Mike Mezack for bringing the coin world back to life!
INTERESTING, BEERBD. I DONT BUY COINS & ONLY OCCASIONALLY WATCH THE COIN SHOWS, BUT I APPRECIATE YOUR FEEDBACK. THANKS….. (WOULD THINK HSN WOULD BE ON TOP OF THESE THINGS.)
Hi there Mooncat3! Oh what a bummer! Isn’t it funny how we can plan such things out ahead of time and forget something so small? But, I’m sure you won’t ever forget about those coals again! Thanks for sharing your story with us! :smileyhappy:
I gather this grilling didn’t work:)
Peace and love:)
