Rules for posting links?
I am so confused now that my links have been removed. Why are other posters allowed to post links to their photo storage sites, but I’m not? My pics were screenshots of the HSN website. I thought if the pics were HSN related, they could be shared. Photobucket allows us to directly insert the image into the post, but I got so much spam from using that storage site. When I saw others sharing links to HSN related pics, I signed up for One Drive.
@cupatea To answer your question, the screenshots I posted were to show the team where there are some technical issues with their webpages. I really learned how to use One Drive for posting photographs of myself wearing the clothes and makeup I purchased from HSN. As u know, I am a makeup artist, so I can relate to your interest in posting personal artwork. I am so sad that things turned out this way. I really enjoyed your crafts. HSN, what you’re doing is not right. What a horrible shame…
Thank you @hsn_erica
I appreciate you taking the time to explain the posting of Links. With that said then pictures only can be posted from an out side source and or pictures from a competitors webs sites??
As I would think that could be done with the IMG and or Link tabs. As it is really very convenient to place any URL or Copy location once one has right clicked on the picture or copied a link.
One can use third party apps outside source for pictures only like Photobuck and tinypics etc. As well as Facebook and Instagram Etc. Correct?
Ok thank you very much @hsn_erica☺ I appreciate the clarification.
@kemiqueen Thank you for coming in and sharing your concern. No worries here I will never post a picture of any of my crafts as long as we are only allowed to use third party out side sourced album creating applications. As you also stated you received spam and my concern is viruses and malware.
If and when HSN brings in their own style of posting pictures then and only when will I post pictures again. I can wait it out.
I just hope that I was not a true bother with posting up my style of crafting.
I am not a professional, I do not sell any of my crafts and I had exclusively posted any and all of my pictures here at HSN. I do not have any social media accounts and this was the only place I actually felt safe posting my pictures.
Thank you again Eric and kimmiqueen☺
Your HSN friend,
@cupatea You were never a bother. Quite the opposite is true! Your posts were inspirational. In my personal opinion, it is very wrong that they were taken down – it truly saddened me. U have done a phenomenal job addressing this issue, and I want to thank u. It sure is interesting that Photobucket images that are completely unrelated to HSN are allowed but our HSN related photos are not. The HSN Community lacks integrity on many levels.
Thank you @kemiqueen
I will disagree with you about the community. The community has integrity. I have never found anyone one lacking of it.
I am not questioning their pictures. It is the method in which they have to use to post them.
I personally love seeing them and some are very creative in making them.
The pictures bring a lot of joy to others. As did mine.
The problem is by using third party apps it makes us vulnerable to the nastiness out on the net.
IE Ransom ware Trojans viruses spam etc. That is my only concern with third party apps.
It is not just HSN forcing us to use third party it is the way of the net world now.
As a matter of fact Microsoft is right up there with it.
When I downloaded windows 10 I became forced to use third party dvd movie and music player. I use to use windows media to play all my music and videos. Now I have to use VLC third party that is at the app store for windows free. I bit the bullet on that because I wanted to watch my dvds.
Photobucket has been around for a long time as has tinypics. and all the third party google etc.
Back in the day we did not really have to use third party and Microsoft frowned on it and included every thing we needed to utilize what we wanted to do.
Now they have come out with the app store and lots free made by others. So you never know what you are going to get and how it will really effect your PC.
I can bite the cookie and use third party I am just afraid of it. I paid lots of money for my computers and I really do not want them to become a brick as they say.
One note is a program that is as we know incorporated with windows now. It used to be a program that one could buy. It also came included in Microsoft word home and office.
It was just for taking notes or writing out shopping lists etc. It is now used in schools for kids and home work and linking up with school work plus now businesses etc. It has now become cloud based so everyone in the group can share there writings. You can even use it in Outlook mail.
I am not sure about one drive I never used it. With that said it is also a Cloud base and anyone can use it but I think it was more design for corporations and businesses.
IN my opinion Microsoft is really trying to become a Mac computer. By allowing their software become mac compatible and now calling programs Apps. etc. The Icloud and any cloud thing has become very big and that is how the computer manufactures would like us to go.
At least that is what I think.
I hope the community is able to still post up their pictures I for one enjoy seeing them.
Your HSN friend,
@cupatea I hope u entered your photos in the #ITSFUNHERE contest. I just won an HSN gift card for entering my fashion and beauty pics. They are giving away more gift cards, and I bet u can win one too. The details are on the HSN homepage.
Awesome for you☺ No I will not be entering as I do not do any other social media and I would have no way to upload a picture.
I did take a look and I did see some fabulous pictures and I did see some awesome crafting pictures. The cards and the pop up boxes now that is what I am talking about with making things with die cutting machines.
I wish the group over at the sewing crafting forum would show up their crafts as they are fantastic.
I have not made a pop up box yet but it is on my list.
HSN was about as social as I get. I do not have any other accounts for socializing.
Best of luck to all the picture posters great pictures. I enjoyed looking at them.
Your HSN friend,
I have read this and the rules and regs that have finally been stated.
I do not understand why you would want to put up a screen shoot of the HSN website.
I do not know what you where trying to show. I cannot find your post in regards to it.
If it was a picture or link of a product from HSN all you had to do was use the IMG tab to paste the picture then post it
To post the link to the description of the item all you had to do was use the LINK tab and paste in the URL address and give it name and it would have been able to view.
You really did not need MICROSOFT ONE DRIVE to do that.
I agree with you I too did not and will not use the true third party apps to download pictures. For reasons you have stated plus to use those programs there could be a fee. However they are free.
With that said I do not understand myself how a cloud base program such as Google cloud, MICROSOFT ONE NOTE MICROSOFT ONE DRIVE are considered an OUT SIDE SOURCE. I only used ONE NOTE to POST UP PICTURES OF MY OWN CREATIONS of MY HOME MADE PROJECTS.
Now with that said. I can post up pictures of competitor websites with a full picture and not link. I can also post up a link to that competitors product via the tools found in the post boxes.
Would that not be an out side source? To me that would be what is refereed to as outside source,
cloud based or not.
How to post pictures and links with in HSN product pages.
Always use the right click button for copy and pasting anything. PC only.
Microsoft windows Edge go to product click on name of the item bring up the description.
Right click on the picture and choose Copy link. Then come to posting box click on IMG and fill out the box then click ok.
Firefox web browser basically the same copy link location come to post box and again IMG.
Fill out hit ok.
Imternet Explorer Copy short cut and come to post box Open IMG and fill out and hit ok.
For the link go to address bar right click then copy. come to post click on link and past in to the first box URL then paste. fill out name check box and hit add link. Very simple but time consuming and as far as my opinion very old style. But it works.
If you wish to post up a picture and until I have complete clarification if true out side sources are considered out side source location. Then I am guessing you will and can us third party IE photobuck tinypics and any style base album such as that.
Not something that is incorporated with an operating system and main stream pc manufacture as Microsoft products. I just hope all goes well for everyone who uses out side source third party application to post pictures.
As for me do not worry. I will not be posting any of my craft pictures any more. Therefore I will not be intruding on any other posts or HSN.
Thanks HSN and community it has be Fun Here.
Your HSN friend,
I just thought I should come back here and explain why I posted up screen shots. My opinion of using Microsoft One Note is a safer way for us to post up pictures and or links. Granted it comes up saying One note On line. That is their logo and their Cloud. I was giving a tutorial on how to use it. I truely do believe it is a safer program for computer users.
It is within the Windows 8, and 10 operating system created by Microsoft. It is not what I would consider an outside unsafe source.
In my humble opinion I was trying to keep my computer safe as well as the community so they too could post their own pictures if they choose to. By using a free product found with in Microsoft operating system product.
I find it best and safer to use the products that come within Microsoft.
Could you or any Moderator please give us a description names of applications that clarify what exactly constitutes an out side source for posting Links and or Pictures.
I would deeply appreciate.
Your HSN friend
Why I am the only one whose links have been removed? More discrimination!!!
@kemiqueen, I apologize if you feel discriminated against. If you see anyone else posting links in the Community, please feel free to report the posts as inappropriate and we’ll gladly moderate them as well.
