LED light bulbs
Will HSN ever offer LED light bulbs that can be used in n totally enclosed light fixtures? All of my ceiling light fixtures are totally enclosed. All the LED bulbs currently offered by HSN are not suitable for use in totally enclosed fixtures. I need at least 10.
ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THE “CFL” BULBS? IF SO, I’VE HAD MINE (THOSE CURLY ONES) IN INDOOR LIGHT FIXTURES FOR SEVERAL YRS. MY SIS HAD ONE IN AN OUTDOOR FIXTURE FOR OVER 5 YRS. THEY WERE NOT MARKED FOR SPECIAL USE OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. HOPE THIS HELPS.
Snoopster, they’re talking about the newer and better LED lights that are replacing CFL’s. It probably depends on how enclosed the fixture was where you were using the CFL’s. We’re not talking about lamps. An enclosed fixture is usually a ceiling fixture that has a tight fitting globe over it. I put some in my new fixture in my kitchen and they seemed to burn out pretty quickly. Went to get LED’s and talked to the people at Home Depot and was told neither LED’s nor CFL’s would do well in enclosed fixtures. Sure enough, when I pulled out the old CFL’s they were actually toasted on the bottom. Home Depot told me I’d need to buy a special LED fixture to use anything other than incandescent or very low wattage lights in them. Did some research on line and found that Walmart was offering LED’s marked for use in enclosed fixtures. So far they’ve worked very well.
The only place I’ve been able to find LED bulbs for totally enclosed fixtures is Walmart–their Great Value store brand. When I was looking for bulbs someone had posted on line about Walmart and, sure enough, I found them. You can buy them singly or in packages of 2 or 4. It looks like even online, you’ll need to read the package in the picture in order to tell which are for enclosed fixtures.
