HSN card vs bank card flex-pay
Hi, I was just approved for an HSN card. I usually use my bank card for my flex-pay items. Other than the extra Flex-payment what are the benefits of using my new HSN card verses my bank card? And I very much want to know if I pay my flex-pay balance will I be charged interest? For example; If the item is $20 and I have 4 flex-pays I’d pay $5 a month… Will I be charged any interest or fees? Thank you!
I have both and use my HSN card to order an item on Flex Pay and then pay it off with my Bank Card. Why? Because if an item is defective, is the wrong size, etc, then my bank card money is not tied up during the return/exchange time. Plus, the return to my HSN card is instant where as my Bank Card can take up to a month plus to show a return (the bank is at fault, not HSN). I also receive coupons/notice of specials that you don’t receive without having a HSN card.
If you make the card work for YOU, then it’s great. I’m a very happy customer.
Please read my comment re: HSN credit card cust service on page 4 of this thread – Extremely Disappointed. I for one will discontinue using my HSN card once I pay it off.
godskido, my experience is that you will not be charged any interest as long as you pay your card in full each month. If you carry a balance forward, most cards will include new purchases in the balance they charge interest on. I have an HSN MasterCard rather than the HSN card, so I’m not totally sure how it works if you’re carrying a balance. The only other caveat I have is that if your purchase occurs near the beginning date for your statement, you might want to check future flex pays to make sure you don’t end up with 2 in the same month. Flexpay works on a 30-day basis and with some months having 31 days, it can happen. If it does, just come back here and the mods can fix your future flex pay dates so it doesn’t happen.
Hi Kyle thank you… I did read that but just wanted a clear yes or no in regards to my example of the $20 item and $5 flex pay… If I am being charged than the bank card drafts will be better. I was hoping if I paid the flex amount each month I would not be charged. Please let me know. Thanks so much.
