How to store the Faux Leather jackets
I have purchased several Faux leather jackets this year from G by G, DG2 and Iman. These came with cleaning instructions but no storage instructions. I would like to know if you could advise me on how to store the jackets for the winter months? Thanks
I’m agreeing cover with plastic, my closet is air conditioning, so their hanging in there, but I bought hanger vacuum bags the ones you out the air.
OMG 20 jackets lol!! I also bought light green from Oman last year forgot all about it, fabrics Patrick one, also army one from F2f in honor of dad it’s 2 sizes too big but it’s all that was left and Colleens stuffed non embroidered jacket. I love in FzL!! I’m just too!!!
I googled for those bags garment vacuum bags, Costco had one in a variety box, which is where I got the idea from!!
That s s great question. My mom had one of my yes plastic shiny like police woman’s jacket in yellow, red, black colors, outside on patio, it melted from heat & humidity.
If you get an answer please let me know!! @59-60
@judiwonder, I’m sorry I don’t have any specific instructions to store your faux leather jackets. I did a quick search in my favorite search engine and found a couple of articles that might provided some good information and helpful hints. It seems that the rules are different depending on what type of faux leather the jacket is. Sorry i couldn’t provide any further information on the storage of these products.
That’s an amazing question @judiwonder, I found this helpful site and this is what they advised.
You can take an empty plastic bag which is big enough to house your black faux leather jacket, it must be preferably brown, make a hole at the bottom.
Next, take your black faux leather jacket, apply some few drops of baby oil onto a dry sponge, and wipe very gently, then, hang your jacket vertically while using the plastic bag to cover it, next cover it with a used blanket that must be very clean and dust free so as to prevent sunlight and heat from damaging your jacket, put in a dark and spacious place, don’t put anything next to it, no clothes and other items so as not to pressure it which is a sure way to get wrinkles and cracks in it!
I hope this helps!
Thank you Krissy, Maybe I should not of gone so wild and purchased over 20 of the jackets total this year. I had to purchase one of each color of each DG2, Iman and G by G. If they have to hang alone and not around one another, then I would have to have a very large closet to do that. I may have to find another method. I was just hoping one of Joys Garment bags would be a way to store it, but I guess not. Maybe I have to have my husband convert one of the spare bedrooms into a closet.
I would NOT put any type of oil on faux leather, that’s asking for a yellow film to cover the garment. I’m sure they will be fine hanging in a closet as is. You could put them in a garmet bag to keep them dust free. Remember, faux leather is a version of plastic.
