HOSTS BUYING PRODUCTS
IT’S VERY DISCONCERTING TO HEAR THE HOST SAY HE/SHE ALREADY BOUGHT THE PRODUCT THEY ARE PRESENTING. THAT’S ONE LESS ITEM AVAILABLE FOR US & POSSIBLY A CUSTOMER MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GET THEIRS DUE TO THE HOST MAKING ONE LESS AVAILABLE. WHY DONT THEY JUST KEEP THEIR MOUTH SHUT IF THEY ALREADY MADE THEIR PURCHASE? (I REALIZE YOUR “WHIP CRACKERS” ARE PROB. MAKING THEM FILL TIME BY YAKKING IT UP.)
Snoopster, I’m not sure if it’s still true, but many years ago I heard hosts say that if a product sold out, their orders got cancelled first so that customers could still buy.
Those employed by HSN have their own store within the building to purchase items. Also, many of the vendors do give gifts to the show hosts. The other side of the coin, it does make a difference if you know that the show host owns the item and can disclose their views. I see nothing wrong with them making such a purchase.
I see nothing wrong with it either. I would hate to have their jobs and see something I really wanted but couldn’t buy it because I worked there. I always figured the vendors gifted the hosts with various items anyway. Plus you know if they bought it, seeing it in person, then it must be good (if you share the same tastes.)
