Defective DeLonghi AC/Heat pump unit
I bought the DeLonghi model 401763 June 2016 and have bad performance from it since arrival (actually after its 90-day warranty period was up). I’ve been back and forth with HSN and DeLonghi. Both sent me to the other Customer Service dept. I also never got my $50 HSN refund I asked three times for (which I gave up). My brother has one of these units which works perfect (to this day) so, I was impressed and ordered one. Mine, however, has shut itself (POWER) off intermittently over time. My wife complains of the noise it makes (knocking and/or ticking noise which I also hear from it). And, I have to now POWER it off after about four hours of usage because it refuses to either cool or heat as it should. I finally requested a friend of mine who owns/runs a professional AC/Heating business to look at it. What he discovered was the coils inside were iced up bad and there looks to be damage to the lower coil (I now have photos of the damaged area) inside the unit. Now, I am REALLY upset that I’ve spent over $700.00 for a supposed great unit (as I said my brother’s is) I’ve complained about since even before “out-of-warranty-period” and, as of this writing, has become usable for only approx. four hours. DeLonghi told me they no longer had this model between the fourth and fifth month of its arrival to my home. I couldn’t afford to buy another one either for my disabled wife who has MS and CP (one of the reasons I bought it was it included the feature of Dehumidifier for her health needs). So, if anyone has one of these units around not working, I could use the bottom coil section (priority), and possibly the pump. DeLonghi won’t help me. _Charles_
I’m so sorry you had these problems AND shocked that HSN or DeLongi won’t help. Keep complaining, keep calling. Which reminds me I have to call on a warranty without getting hung up on.
What bugs me is we pay hsn for warranty service, and are sent to different places. If it’s no longer made and you have the proof. Have you tried BBB, better bureau business. Usually in your local phone directory or online.
Good luck. They should replace with updated model.
My dehumidifier was on recall, I had it for 5 years and they notified me, sent replacement, a few month later.
HSN_Ryan, help him with the unit at least lead him to where he can get a replacement.
