Debbie Meyers Green Boxes
What am I doing wrong? Everything I have put in these boxes mildew or spoil in just a couple of days. The items were dry when I put them in but I had to wipe the boxes out everday and my food still ruined.
Fresh fruits and vegetables naturally give off moisturre which can collect as condensation, so wiping the interiors of the containers is imperative when it builds up. The condensation is compounded when room temperature or warm produce is put into sealed containers and then placed in a cold refrigerator.
To reduce this issue (I rarely have condensation build up), I put the food in the containers and place the containers in the refrigerator WITHOUT the lids (or with the lids slightly ajar). Once the produce has cooled down and is chilled, I snap on the lid. This seems to work well for me.
I have the exact same problem. I question during the presentation of these how Debbie’s boxes are always bone dry when she just says they were just taken out of the fridge. Mine have condensation. I actually have food spoil faster in her boxes then just leaving the fruits/veggies in the crisper drawer.
I don’t think we are doing anything wrong.
