I wish to know how you organize your home especially the sewing and knitting area. My husband likes my craft and artworks but he admonishes me if the fabric pieces or paper cuts are left on the floor. I can’t squander those cut pieces because they might be useful for sewing another dresses or doing the craft. I make rose flowers with the cut piece I get from the other clothes. I am looking for some stockpiling tips for putting away those cut pieces efficiently. I have seen online making storage space with cupboards. I found it interesting. I have some, moving boxes from Burlington which I brought for storing kitchenware during a renovation. I have plans to convert it for storing fabric pieces. Do you guys have any ideas on how to convert a cupboard for storage? Any ideas?? I would like to hear from you. Any creative ideas are welcome.
Storage Card board boxes☺ I used some for a book shelf☺ To store all my craft books. What I did was place them on their sides and placed them on a small coffee table up against a wall of my formal living room/craft room. Worked out pretty good for quite a while. I have just now retired my boxes for my old wooden crates that I had for a very long time.
If you are just using the card board boxes to store fabric and paper cuts you can either place them on their sides open end towards you with the flaps tucked in one box on top of another. Then stack your fabric by fabric type or color. If your scraps are small you could always use a file folder color or fabric type and then use the boxes as I did and stand the file folder on its end then one file folder after the other.
As for me I just get the cheap plastic draw containers.. Some have four wide draws and some have four narrow draws. I store my fabric in the four wide draws. My patterns in the narrow draws etc.
I love boxes I have made two photo booth boxes out of boxes that I got when I had purchased some items off of HSN and the net.
Hope that gives you an idea of how to use your storage boxes.☺
