Spectrum Noir Pencil Blending Kit with Storage Case…grrr!
So I’m writing a rant/tantrum…because I feel like it.
I was VERY busy today and never even turned on the TV. I’m in the midst of my Chinese take out, when a presentation comes on for “Brand New” Spectrum Noir Colorblend Pencil kit. I thought, HUH? That looks like what I bought a few years ago (shortly before all the blending felt tip pen kits started coming). So there is reference to the new product, being like the old product…uh huh. And then, just a quick little mention of the Spectrum Noir Pencil Blending Kit with Storage Case…
I almost spit out my mouthful of food! I have not really used those pencils because I don’t like the look…hard to blend the colors without the kit. The kit has been almost impossible to get and was always sold out, so I gave up on it and the pencils have sat, almost unused. I even tried searching the net, looking for relatively decent/inexpensive options…nada.
SO…I run up to the TV to see if what I heard was indeed what they were talking about…RAN for the computer…and of course, SOLD OUT.
Sara dear, you even had to mention that there were so FEW of these kits brought over!
Needless to say…I’m steamed! I wonder how many others bought those previous sets and then could never get the blending kit.
Color me (without blending) very disappointed.
I hope this helps. The blending solution is Gamsol and has been around for awhile. You use blending stumps and rub the stumps on a sandpaper that usually comes with it to keep them pointed. There are videos by Jennifer McQuire and many others on youtube using Gamsol and color pencils it will blend even cheap pencils. Gamsol itself is a brand name but the product is orderless mineral spirits.
If you can watch the videos (Gamsol and colored pencils) and then search Gamsol it can be ordered many places even Etsy has it and most scrapbook stores can order a kit for you. I think a kit is under 15.00 I thought the 19.00 kit was a little high on HSN.
it is unfortunate these things are not explained well on craft days. If anyone remembers Archivers Scrapbook stores that is where I learned about it and purchased several years ago. I hope this helps you get what you need to get those pencils off the shelf. Jan
I just went to their US web site and bought them there.
Thank you, I’m waiting for something else to show up on their website and when it does I’ll purchase this also.
I have liked it, and if enough do they will get them in quicker. They should have an autoship of maybe 6 months or once a year for those who do use the Color Blend pencils a lot. I did not order the pencils because the blending products was sold out.
I agree. The blending kit was mentioned as almost an afterthought. I had marked it as a possible purchase, but being unfamiliar with it, wasn’t sure if it was something I needed (I’m inexperienced at coloring). By the time I realized it was a necessity it was too late. Well, maybe next time ??
