Problems With Crafters Companion 3D Embossing Folders
I have been trying to emboss with the “Dear Santa” as well as the other folders in the set and am unable to. I tried running them through my Gemini, Cuttlebug and Big Shot. The Gemini plates went through but the folder slid to the end of the plates and would not emboss. I had the right combination according to book instructions. I decided to put the embossing mat in the combination thinking it would help the folder not slide. Well that turned out to be a very bad idea! Not only did the folder slide but the mat got torn up in the machine. I was able to get all the pieces out but now I have to buy another mat. After this disaster I tried it in my Cuttlebug and then the Big Shot with the same results as the Gemini. The folder would not go through. It would slide down to the end of the plates as they went through. It’s like they’re to slick to stay in place.
Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. I love these folders and really want to use them. Thank you.
Check the instruction booklet that came with the machine. I always have to check back to it when using different dies. It has helped me each time. Also check YouTube I find lots of great videos that have helped.
Same issue! Instead of using the thicker firm plate on top I used the plastic shim along with the rubber mat seemed to help! It seems the folders are too thick to run thru!
I also cannot get the embossing folders I bought to go through my Gemini Jr. It backs out half the sandwich or goes through and does not emboss. I have tried every combo I can think of.
Thank you softlinequeen and freckie. I appreciate your help. Finally got it to work.
I had the same problem when using the big gemini and plates but then i switched to the gemini jr. plates and put them in the short way like sara does with the same sandwich she used on one of her demos and it worked great in the big gemini
I am not familiar with the embossing folder that you mentioned, but when I tried other embossing folders, and it slid out the back like you mentioned, the “sandwich” was too thick. I usually adjust the plates based on what I am cutting or embossing along with the thickness of the paper/cardstock that I am using. Sometimes I just have to adjust to find the right combination of plates to use. Good luck and I hope this helps.
