Brother Design and Cut
Hi! Does anyone know if you can use the new Design and Cut to “capture” a preprinted scrapbook page (think stack from big box scrapbook store) with all the little cards/images that accompany the pad? Then have the machine cut out all the images to use as embellishments on your project? If Julie demos the machine again tongiht could she show us that or at least address it in a YouTube video? I saw her do it with the other Scan and Cut machine. It is the most appealing reason to make me switch digital machines. Thanks!
This might answer some questions for everyone looking
Just sharing what I have learned about the machine from the actual maker of the machine Brother. This is the actual video Brother made for the Design n cut
There is not a scanner on it. this is why it has a different name and does not fall into the family of Scan N Cut machines. And Yes you can use a smartphone as stated in the video.
Hi @faithfulmommy @zab66 and Everyone☺
No the Design N Cut does not have a scanner like the scan n cut machines.
Your second question is a good one. I would think you would photo it and then I would think the machine should cut out the entire snow flake. Or upload the snowflake to the cloud software then download to the Design N Cut.
The picture of the watermelon I think is a manufactured sticker. When I watch the video it appears that the photo procedure can capture the whole mat. therefore I would think that what ever is on that mat would be captured and able to be cut out.
With the scan n cut you can also use the tablet and I think the Iphone but of coarse a computer.
It is just the software anyway which is scan n cut canvas and the new Design N cut manager software that also looks like scan n cut canvas.
Well good luck to those that have purchased the New Design N Cut. Remember post up your pictures of your crafting creations.
Your HSN friend,
Could someone answer a direct question does the design n cut still scan an image and then cut out ALL the detail as well as an outline? (Like the scan and cut did) All I have seen so far is cutting an around a picture. I guess a further question would be if I make a snowflake from a punch that I have can I scan it or photo it and have the machine cut out everything not just an outline? Thanks so much All for your help!
(If this machine does everything my scan n cut does, I would upgrade to this machine)
Oh, fantastic! Thank you soooooo much for sharing this!
I agree with you on that! I to hope you don’t need to do ALL those steps each time on each image to cut an outline.
If you go to you tube brother has how to videos up on the new machine Design and Cut you might get your answer there.
Thank you for your response! I saw the demo of the watermelon that appears to be the demo of the capture and cut when I went back to watch what is posted with the machine. I hope that it will work with the bigger 12×12 sheets that I want to fussy cut without having to get out my scissors. I, too, am an Android girl. Hopefully, someone at HSN will mention to Julie that she has people who would like to see that feature so she can demo it more. Or, that it’s as intuitive as she says it is and I figure it out easily when it arrives.
Thanks again for your reply!
Hi, @faithfulmommy – I’m not 100% certain, but I am pretty sure I watched her do this on the demo last night. Is there a video up yet? It might show on there. I am very interested in this feature as well, as my Cricut only does that with Apple products and I am an Android girl. Grrr.
