This is my first time buying one of these bullets, I need help with recipes. Demonstrations of exactly what goes in them . I need help on this I want to start eating better.
Hey, speaking of recipes…
David made one earlier with celery, cucumber, blueberries, pineapple (?) and something. Suzanne tried it and talked about how she doesn’t care for celery but liked this drink…that made me look up but I didn’t get all the ingredients.
Did anyone catch that drink?
Pipman did a great job here Owns! Just start with the recipe book, and in no time you’ll find what you like and don’t like and build your own. That’s what I did. I use Baby Spring Green instead of Kale..but I like the taste of spinich too…and when I don’t want to use nuts, or am out, I use a walnut oil. I keep frozen fruits and veggies too. Bought fresh then frozen. I lay then out on cookie sheets, get them to freeze, then throw them in ziplocks and back in the freezer they go. Especially when I find something on sale, like the Blueberries I just got. And I do use my BB&B coupons to by the Super Boost that David talks about. They carry it. :smileywink:
Congratulations on your decision to try and eat better…it certainly can be a challenge to cook from scratch and make smarter choices on what one puts into their body. I’ll add…baby steps…starting slow will make it easier and you won’t throw up your hands because you are overwhelmed.
The NutriBullet Pro is a great place to start. You will be getting great books with your kit…the User Guide/Recipe Book plus the Life Changing Recipes book. Both are loaded with recipes, testimonials and instructions on how and what to Blast. You can also sign up at NutriLiving which has all kinds of information and recipes. When I started searching the net for recipes, it was overwhelming.
Depending on what you have been including in your diet currently, you may have to adjust your taste buds. I feel that in the beginning it’s best to KISS…keep it simple silly! Too many ingredients can yield a brown, not so pleasant mix (I’ve made a lot of those!) also I recommend, no drinks that are all fruit…too sweet and too much natural sugar.
My favorite basic…frozen pineapple, spinach, water/coconut water…and I add from there…half a banana, cashews or almonds or chia…cilantro or parsley…an orange or apple or pear or grapes or plum or…it goes on and on.
Spinach is so easy to adapt to…it’s mild and adds that beautiful bright green. Kale, Swiss Chard, other greens can take getting used to, due to their stronger character…don’t turn yourself off in the beginning, with some bad drinks.
Some fat…as I mentioned either some nuts, coconut oil, avocado, olive oil…just a bit because it’s very important if you want to maximize the absorption of some vitamins and minerals.
If you buy too many fresh items, keep in mind almost everything can be frozen. I buy my pineapple, blueberries and cherries at Costco already frozen…I freeze my bananas and you can even freeze spinach and the like. I can always find something either in the frig or freezer.
When you get your machine be sure to follow the instructions and do NOT over fill. My ingredients may go over the max fill line (heck, spinach isn’t exactly a solid food) but NEVER my liquids. This machine works better if you are making drinks more on the liquid vs. Slurpee side (I’ve now decided that I prefer my drinks thinner than thicker). I always glance at the gasket on my blending blade, to make sure it is in place (I’ve never had one come out nor have I removed one…instructions says do not remove them), make certain that you have tightened the blade on the cup, then blend. IF you blend, release and go to blend again, check that the lid has remained tight. I had one leak…I had indeed overfilled my cup and blended twice…it was the second time blending that it leaked, due to the lid being loose…I’ve never made that mistake again. Instructions say not to run for more than one minute at a time…I set a timer, every time!
One thing I’ve been doing is Blasting in my Colossal cup and then pouring it into a Tall cup…it fills the tall perfectly to the rim (which I then take to work.)
Good luck! I love my NutriBullet Pro and all the goodies that came with it and am very satisfied.
(Suzanne is on now [12 Noon Pacific]…I love her passion about this. I previously heard her say that she placed her NutriBullet next to her sink AND got a basket to hold all the accessories…I then did the same! My basket is actually plastic from a dollar store and it’s perfect to hold all of the cups, blades, lids, etc. Thank you Suzanne for that idea! Another mention…when I got mine, a bag of the Super Foods Super Boost was included in place of the bag…I use it only occasionally because of the cacao, which gives the Blast a delicious chocolate flavor.)
