Do you think points should be given for product reviews?
I think so, they are time consuming and if the content of the review is informative, why not?
No. Incentives such as giving points or badges in the past only encouraged marginal reviews. Hopefully, those who leave informative reviews will continue to do so as they want others to know about their positive/negative experiences and they genuinely care about the quality of products available here.
No, when they did this a couple of years ago it resulted in reviews like “great”, “love it”, “hate it” etc. I always try to leave a comprehensive review. I know I appreciate them when I am considering a product.
Only if the reviews would be helpful and not just “I like it” “works good”. There wouldn’t be any way to monitor it though…
I do not believe HSN should allow points for customer review of products. Something like this would cost the company a lot to manage. They would have to tie in the review system to the arcade. I’m not saying that they can’t, but I think they would not spend the money to administer this.
I do not buy products from HSN unless there are reviews of a product I’m interested in. No reviews at all, no purchase from me. “Good reviews” weigh heavily on my decision to purchase or not. Furthermore, I am of the opinion that HSN doesn’t allow reviews on everything they sell. I find this particularly true in the jewelry section.
I think HSN should partner with Plenti. Whenever we use our HSN card, we could earn Plenti points. I accumulate Plenti points and use them when I don’t have a coupon or an item isn’t on sale.
I stopped doing reviews when I realized that HSN posts the State you live in next to your screen name. Why is where we live necessary. This is a security issue with me. As far as giving points, I really don’t have an opinion because I won’t do reviews as long as doing so gives out my personal information.
I think that sometimes reviews are useless because, if an item is defective, or if the customer doesn’t like it they will make themselves heard. The maority of people who are satisfied with a product or who are on the fence about it, won’t bother to post reviews. If given points for reviews, the person will probably post something just to get the points. Those types of reviews would be useless.
Anyways, I purchased a Higate Comforter Set on clearance that had poor reviews. I had worked at HSN a while back and knew that Highgate Manor, most of the time had quality comforters. The set was gorgeous and 2 of the reviews were probably reviews done in anger. I could not figure out why the comforters were given such poor reviews. I reviewed the comforters with a positive review and they sold out quickly after that.
A review is usually done, once again, because a customer is either very happy or very dissatisfied with the product. To me, reviews should be given as a positive or negative reaction to a product, not for points. When I want to buy a product here and I see negative reviews, if the product is also sold elsewhere I always Google to see what others have to day.
We should absolutely be rewarded for product reviews. There are companies that pay for competing a survey and a positive review would influence more purchases. I was very bummmed when they stopped giving us credit for dong product reviews. PLEASE BRING IT BACK HSN!
Thank you – Tonya R-B
Reviews should be a sharing jesture among buyers . I think it helps people decide whether to buy .
NOW on another note …. I think HSN should introduce a reward system for frequent BUYING .
JCP , Yankee Candle , Belks are some places I shop that rewards frequent shopping . I am not talking about points that give you a chance of getting something . I mean money coupons to use for buying
I am ok with rewarding points for the game playing or even if they want to reward points reviewing . But I am not a gamer- I am here to shop, not play. I do give reviews to share , so giving points either way for playing or reviewing is ok with me.
I think being a very frequent buyer should a reason enuff to be rewarded -as it is at many other places .The points are not what I would like to have though . It should be rewards for shopping not points .
Jus my opinion….not a divine revelation
Absolutely! Reviews are time consuming and informative. I for one, take a lot of time and care in selecting the right words to adequately describe my opinion of the product I am reviewing.
Reviews definitively impact sales. On occasion, I myself have decided to buy/not to buy based on reviews (i.e. how a bracelet fit and felt on the wrist of a person who has the same size wrist as I).
Admittedly, some people will write reviews just to get points, but that should not impact rewards for those who provide detailed, helpful reviews. Perhaps a “grading system” could be used in providing rewards for reviews. If the review goes into detail regarding the author’s reason for the review, then points should be given (i.e. “I have a 6 & 3/4″ wrist and the small/medium bracelet slipped when worn and was uncomfortable” or “The medium/large bracelet fit my 7″ wrist perfectly.”) Or (“The large in this dress did not fit comfortable on my 145 lb 5′ 2″ frame.”) Reviews of this nature are helpful to me.
Reviews with “I just did not like the item, therefore I gave it a 1 star rating.” are not helpful and should receive no few or no rewards.
I don’t think you should get points, i think that people will write reviews and not take their time just writ something to get the points.
Now, if someone really likes a product or some aspect of it, they will eagerly write about it. Likewise if they dislike a product, they will usually write it. Either way, it will be their true opinion or review.
If points are given, many will write For points. Their opinion becomes secondary to getting the points. Some will scribble down anything and petty things, to get the points.
No, points should not be given. – My opinion.
I say yes. They are time consuming especially when the form? doesn’t like what you said and you have to rephrase it. I have not even been writing reviews because the last one I wrote , I had to rephrase 4-5 x before it would accept it. And it wasn’t even a bad review! It was good.
And there will always be the people who write the reviews of where they haven’t gotten the item yet, or the box was torn. People…just a hint…you are only getting the email as a reminder to write a review. You don’t have to write it right then! You can go into you account and write it later
Maybe if this would happen people wouldn’t be so hasty to post a review, and only do so after they’ve had time to get to know and study their purchases? That would be great.
