When I see HSN repeatedly offering items with mostly bad reviews. It makes me doubt the integrity of the company and the hosts. I hate feeling like HSN is trying to dump bad merchandise on their customers.
I think it would be a lot easier for the consumer if HSN would list the reviews in order by the date posted and not by puttting all of the bad reviews at the end. What are you trying to hide?
Because I worked for HSN about ten years ago, I know how the reviews work. For instance, the sheer volume of items Joy Mangano sells versus the bad reviews she gets on some of her products. She is a huge selle, or was. The negative reviews of some of her items reflect a small portion, or did, of the sheer volumne of how much she sells. That goes for everything else here.
If an item has nothing but negative reviews, I just might skip it. If it is a brand I like and it has negative reviews, the people who liked it have gone on their merry way without posting.
Remember, the squeeky wheel gets the grease. I would not purchase something if I don’t know the brand and it has nothing but negative reviews.
Most of the unhappy customers post their views loud and clear.
I think that reviews should be allowed after the 30-60-90 day return policy. I don’t know how someone can review a product after only having it a week. Unless it is defective. Especially with cosmetics. Some face products must be used for sometimes 3 months before seeing results.
When I read reviews, I almost always start with the bad ones. Then I read the good ones and make my decision of whether to purchase.
Sometimes people don’t pay any attention at all to what they are purchasing. A tunic length tee shirt got bad reviews because it wasn’t loose like a tunic and/or didn’t like the material. The description states that it is fitted and what type of material it is. It is a tee, not a tunic. Yet it got bad reviews due to not being a tunic.
Here’s a review I read on a pair of Steve Madden’s shoes; "I never did like Steve Madden’s footwear..I am shocked that HSN would sell such a product. The construction was horrible."
Huh? Never did like his shoes but bought a pair? All righty then.
So just because a product gets bad reviews, doesn’t mean it’s a bad product. Sometimes people just don’t know what they’re ordering. Sometimes the product isn’t great, and if you get something defective you should contact HSN.
And HSN does have a great return policy. So return it if you’re not happy with it.
I have purchased items that had terrible reviews …loved them and would purchase again ! For example NoNo is something I would replace if mine ever went bad . I purchased mine from HSN 3 yrs ago and absolutely love it .
If and when it breaks I will get another in a heartbeat.
Sometimes you just have to follow your instinct. jus sayin
I know what you mean, but reviews are sometimes unmerited as well. Also, the host have a job to do. They don’t have a choice in the matter. But sometimes there will be a person give a 1 star because they didn’t receive the item or got it late or something just stupid. A review should be stictly on the product. I do read the reviews and try to make a review on the items I purchase as well. For the most part, I have been thrilled with each and every purchase I have made. Very very few returns thank goodness! I also base the review on the cost factor. For instance, on another channel I purchased some sheets. They had some ugly reviews but the price was marked down to a crazy crazy low price. Got them home, for the money they are fantastic sheets. No they aren’t 1000 tc Egyptian cotton but I wasn’t expecting that so why would I give them a low rating based on something they were not. I would like to see the quality increase on some items as well!
I have cancelled several items I bought after I read the reviews. If a number of reviews all mention a certain defect in an item like a piece breaking off, I won’t get it. I was going to buy that rolling cart that could go upstairs until I read many reviews about the problem with the front wheels not turning (swiveling left and right) so that you could go around corners without physically dragging it, For a person that needs something to move heavy items due to injury, not being able to push or pull it easliy around a corner is ridiculous. Sadly, looks like a dud, no wonder they just lowered the price. :catfrustrated:
I agree with the fact that there needs to be a higher standard for quality control.
However, coming from a manufacturing background for 13 years, it is not HSN’s fault the manufacture sends out poor quality products that were manufactured. Not every product that is manufactured in a batch lot is perfect.
The vendors, quality control, inventory control, shipping, and the buyer’s are not doing their job.
I like to read all reviews also. A lot of beauty items have bad reviews because they don’t work for everybody. So many people like such and such company and many others prefer so and so company.
The poster needs to give some idea of what products they are talking about. Shouldn’t make such a broad statement. Seems it may just be more sour grapes talking and trying to convince everybody that reads the forum to stop buying.
Now why would I stop buying when I don’t even know the poster and they aren’t giving us an idea?
I like that ALL reviews are shown, the good as well as the bad. Sometimes what others view as a negative may be what I am looking for. Example in clothes, if people say an item runs long or in jewelry, a stone is too large.
