I wipe across the tip of each nail with my finger after polishing so that the very tip of the nail does not have polish on it. Does not show, and polish does not chip for a very long time.
Dear Faire, wow your hands and nails are pretty. So ladylike. Love it! I would love to have you pamper me with your special manicure/pedicure techniques and products. I will agree with you, I use the Revlon Colorstay Gel and it does stay on for awhile. My nails aren’t as long and pretty as yours because I guess I use my hands alot (attending to my cows….fences…..chickens….landscaping)…almost sounds like the "LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRE"….LOL :womanlol: Might be work but I still get all prettied-up for town and to go to church. You know those nails and toes are done.
Thanks again for all the info you always put on the forum/threads for all of us. It all comes in handy. Like talking and sharing ideas with a BIG SISTER, I never had.
HAPPY VALENTINES TO YOU………….
:womanhappy: I MUST SAY WOW, BEAUTIFUL NAILS, FairieMaden:heart: Awesome!! Have to find a pic of mine about 4 years ago, always did the squared nails, actually I had to CUT THEM ALL OFF, started again, trying to stay at a shorter length. Love the color and your choices from Sally, all are great choices. I have always worn a Revlon Red, it was my signature color, plus real gold charms on each nail, GET THE FAINTING COUCH, what was I thinking back than, Or Now?? Each charm were in the hundreds and held on only by a tad of glue and top coat. Well, back then it was a charm…. going to Manhatten once a week. After losing my Mom, my world ended… she was my partner in Crime, we did everything girly together for my whole life!! I Was Blessed!!
She even got a staple in her ear, when I did for weight loss, $500 per person, and $100 for removal after 2 months. We did everything ….. I Miss her so very much…. her closets were so stuffed!!! Macys called her their VIP customer!! We both used to order our makeup on HSN, or shop Donald Trumps boutique, in between playing black jack, and the $5 machines, I have to laugh, I know she’s laughing the night hubby and I stayed home, Mom and Dad went, called us to get there ASAP, limo waiting, they hit for 20 grand on a slot machine messing around.
One year we stayed 2 weeks VIP in the Bahamas with wrap around suites, meals included, I had won in AC for 12 nights… what a great roll. LOL, have laugh, sorry I took your whole nite to read my nonesense. Hmm, wonder if hubby wants to go to AC, nahhh… xoxoxo Hugs to you always, you are way too sweet:):) and Stunning!!!
I agree. No more fake nails for me. I’m working on improving the look of my own nails! — Your nails are beautiful, FaireMaiden!
It seems to me that ‘nails’, (like ‘hair’), is in the genes. I’ve got great hair that grows like a weed, and nails that are like talons and also grow like weeds! So did my mother, my grandmother, and my great-grandmother.
As such, I have no advice/tips about getting hearty nails and hair except to say that it all begins internally… chemically. Some have mentioned vitamins, others protein. Alas, it’s the endless search for what YOUR body requires internally to create the nails you desire.
These are the products I use when I give myself a manicure/pedicure…
Beauty Secrets Acetone Instant Polish Remover
Tropical Shine Four-Way Nail File/Buffer
Orly Ridgefiller Primer Basecoat
Orly ‘Elsbeth’s Rose’
Orly Nail Laquer Thinner
Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy- Royal Flush (the colour shown is not true, it’s a beautiful dark magenta, not a bright fuschia)
Beauty Secrets Gel Polish Thinner
Brucci DBP-Free Acrylic Top Coat
Beauty Secrets Polish Corrector Pen
I get everything at Sally’s except for the Revlon Gel Polish.
As for these new ‘Gel’ polishes, the first one I have tried is the Revlon and all I can say is: I LOVE this Nail Polish! The BRUSH is wide, so, holds more paint… two strokes and you’re done. The Polish is also SATURATED with colour… ONE COAT is all you need.
This Gel Polish lasts me 3-weeks… 3 WEEKS! NO CHIPPING. And the only reason I have to give myself a manicure after 3-weeks is because my nails have grown-out so much from the cuticle. But, remember, you absolutely need a basecoat and a topcoat to begin and finish the painting process.
I also use Vitamin E oil and sometimes Jojoba oil and smear it all over nails and cuticles before bedtime. I had gloves from the dermatologist (but I think you can buy similar ones at the stores, not sure what the brand is) that I would wear during sleep if my hands were really bad. Doc recommended petroleum jelly I don’t care for the ingredient but I have also used the "unjelly brands" at night. I constantly use moisturizer during the day.
I’ve never tried gel, but would love to read about other’s experiences with it. I did recently buy a mat top coat and love how most of my polishes look with it. It comes close to doubling my polish selection.
Also, I think it was memphisvettte, posted a picture of a ring and I immediately noticed the nails on the hand that was wearing the ring. The nails were a nice length and shape. If it is memphisvette I would like to read her input.
so sorry, looks as though Carols Daughter when bought out, by Target did not replace her manicure set, I can live without it, since the Ruby Nail System has basically the same things in it. Hope you enjoy luvmytzu and thank you for sharing, Have a Beautiful Weekend:) xoxo TofDude
I love bath and body works true blue spa hand cream, with shea and silk. Awesome.
Ok, now out looking for the best GEL NAIL POLISH, does it require a lamp and special acetone nail polish remover?? I live right near Sallys Nails and they have it all, except the essentials. No one can take away my RUBY SYSTEM, PERFECT FORMULA PINK & AL HAIR SKIN NAILS.
I HAVE ADORABLE RUBBER GLOVES, MID HIGH IN PINK WITH CUPCAKES ON THEM:)
DRINK PLENTY OF WATER, AND EAT MY GREEK YOGURT.:)
I’m excited. I did receive the Ruby Nail System this week. I have to try it out today!
ToffeeDude..Do you have an item number for the Carol’s Daughter Manicuring for Cuticles? I can’f find it. Thanks
I stopped wearing the acrylic coating long time ago…but my natural nails are like wet tissue paper. Soft and thin…
HOWEVER, I started using gel nail polish. It sets up diamond hard, lets my nails grow long and keeps them strong. People ask me all the time about my acrylic nails and I am proud to show them that they are mine.
I also love Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat from the Q. Love the whole line of product.
The other thing…moisture…lots of lotion to keep my cuticles soft. No hangnails.
And gloves when I am doing dishes, or cleaning with water and chemicals, or in the yard.
And don’t use your nails as tools. I don’t even open a can of soda with my nails.
I consider myself very lucky to have strong nails. I started growing them at the age of ten, much to the dismay of my piano teacher. I took it for granted all my adult life until 3 and a half years ago when they just started splitting, chipping, and became very weak. I tried a stupid amount of vitamins, but nothing changed. My blood work was checked and was within the normal range. Midyear last year I stopped all the vitamin pills and increased my protein intake and in six months time my nails are back to great. I do like SolarOil but I can’t say that I use it every day. I do my best to keep my nails painted all the time and I paint the underside of my nails for additional support and protection. All the topicals in the world will not make a difference if the nail (when it’s actually alive and being formed) is not supplied enough of the correct nutrients. Nails are made of keratin, the same protein that hair and skin are made from. Take a close look at what you are eating and if you make changes to your diet (food, suppliments, etc.) Remember to have patience as it takes months for your nails to grow out enough to see results. Here are my nails now.
