Why is SCA Retinol clear instead of yellow
Does anyone know why SCA Retinol Capsules w Plant Stem Cell Complex (311-364) are not filled w a yellow serum?
Retinol is not clear. Jamie from Beauty Bioscience has stated numerous times that if your retinol is not yellow, then there is no retinol, bc it cannot be bleached. SSC A Force XR Serum Concentrate (165-352) is yellow. My Rx retinol (Tretinoin 0.05%) is yellow.
My 1st guess would be that Adrienne’s Retinol is diluted by the dimethicone and other ingredients in the capsule.
My 2nd guess is that Adrienne’s Retinol is dehydrated into flakes, and that changes the color composition, but I don’t know if that is even possible.
Very curious! Plz share your thoughts!
I don’t know about Adrienne’s retinol, but the Spa Supercharger she is airing right now is a wonderful tool at the sale price.

It is 2 bad that 1 brand makes false statements and the other cannot answer ?s regarding their product. It is contradictory for the channel 2 promote both brands. If you are looking 4 a more potent retinol, go w/the yellow. If you need a milder one, go w/the other. Or maybe stay away from these brands all together, since they don’t sound very trustworthy. :smileyfrustrated:
Some information from the FTC regarding misleading advertising.
“The Federal Trade Commission Act allows the FTC to act in the interest of all consumers to prevent deceptive and unfair acts or practices. In interpreting Section 5 of the Act, the Commission has determined that a representation, omission or practice is deceptive if it is likely to:
mislead consumers and affect consumers’ behavior or decisions about the product or service.”
“The FTC Act prohibits unfair or deceptive advertising in any medium. That is, advertising must tell the truth and not mislead consumers. A claim can be misleading if relevant information is left out or if the claim implies something that’s not true. For example, a lease advertisement for an automobile that promotes “$0 Down” may be misleading if significant and undisclosed charges are due at lease signing.
In addition, claims must be substantiated, especially when they concern health, safety, or performance. The type of evidence may depend on the product, the claims, and what experts believe necessary. If your ad specifies a certain level of support for a claim – “tests show X” – you must have at least that level of support.
Sellers are responsible for claims they make about their products and services. Third parties – such as advertising agencies or website designers and catalog marketers – also may be liable for making or disseminating deceptive representations if they participate in the preparation or distribution of the advertising, or know about the deceptive claims.”
Like so many other cosmetic claims, Jamie’s statement was very misleading. IMHO, so misleading it’s probably as close to a lie as one can get without actually lying. Yes retinol is yellow. However, not all products containing retinol are yellow. Just because there’s other ingredients and there’s a lower concentration of retinol doesn’t mean the product isn’t effective.
Do a web search for paula’s choice which strength of retinol do you need. Look for the June 1, 2016 result. The article discusses the needs and reasons for different strengths of retinol products. Of course she’s promoting her line, but her facts are the truth.
I am so mad. I asked for help returning my capsules over on the Community CS Help forum and was denied! So I contacted HSN by Chat, and the CS agent I spoke w was very kind and made an exception, even though I ordered them in May. HSN is paying for my return shipping too. I don’t understand y they wouldn’t do that for me here on the Community. The Community is part of HSN.
Kemiqueen, not sure of the answer to your question, but my son’s Retin A .025 cream, prescription is white.
I have the green capsules as well.
U WILL NOT BELIEVE WHAT SCA SAID WHEN I CALLED. ?
Help! How do I get in contact w SCA if I don’t have Facebook? I don’t see a website…
Good question and I wondered the same thing. With the exception of SCA (which I sent back) every retinol I’ve purchased has been yellow. Now, I HAVE noticed that the yellow shade ranges too: from a pale shade to an intense yellow. Yet, the ingredient decks are often very similiar but some were much stronger than others.
Perhaps it comes down to the mixing aspect of all the ingredients. Don’t know *shrugs*
I believe you already answered your question my dear 🙂 Check out the ingredient dec & see where the retinol is listed. I do believe dimethicone is listed up higher. When I use it I can’t even feel it working. Now, when I use the retinol product I have now purchased I can feel it working & can see results already within a week of starting it. Very pleased with my product now. But I did love the conveinence & look of those pretty little capsules in those jars…… I still have some left actually a lot left & I did take one of the posters suggestions on the SSC products I have left over I have been using those products on my body to use that stuff up. I am on to a new line of products again…
