WHEN WILL YOU STOP COLORING YOUR HAIR
i know when we color, it makes us feel better and younger looking,
I stopped coloring my hair this year, which I have colored since young. Since I colored it myself, I didn’t have a schedule to color, just when I felt it was time to do so. So, when I would see white, it would make me feel old, and my additude and actions are not old, and when I colored, then I felt good again. Well, now that I’ve let it go, and it has turned to a beautiful silver, I hope, in time, it will turn completly white, like my mother’s was, I think it looks great and I no longer feel old about it. I’ve been taking care of my face, neck and hands for quite a while now and even tho I have a head full of “old lady” hair, people still think I’m at least 10 years younger than I am. By the way, I don’t think all that coloring all those years has damaged my hair, I always get compliments on the look.
What do you think….when will you stop coloring?
Right now, 68, I feel I look better with color. My husband has to help me with the back of my hair. Is anyone able to do all their hair without help?
I’ve haven’t colored my hair since I was a teen. At 55, I have a few gray strands but that’s no big deal. I stopped relaxing my hair two years ago. No chemicals. Deep conditioning, before and after wash, blowdry and flat iron (which I get done in a salon).
I’ve seen too many of my co-workers and friends losing their hair due to over-processing.
I guess when my hands fall off 😉 and I think a woman looks beautiful when their hair turns white <3
When I’m dead.
When I have none
To All the Guys out there….I know some of you color your hair too.
I know not many men will read this post because of the heading BUT,,,
How many of you ladies color your men’s hair? Do they color their own?
I know some are just as vain as we are and try to look as young as possible for as long as possible.
How do they really feel about it?
I colored my hair a lot when I was in my 20’s, experimenting with all sorts of colors. I have dishwater blond hair and I colored it light brown, auburn and of course, blonder. After I moved away from home, I didn’t bother with it anymore, because my mother wasn’t there to help me with it. Now, I don’t have the time, patience or money to deal with roots.
I am in my early 60’s now, and I haven’t colored my hair for decades. I have the color hair where grays aren’t particularity noticeable on it. It is beginning to really show around my temples, and I’m proud of it. Why? I have been blessed/cursed with a baby face that makes me look way younger than I am. People have always guessed me to be at least 15 years younger than I actually am. When I was in my early 30’s a friend jokingly said she was going to get me a t shirt that said, “I am not jail bait” to wear when we went bar hopping! So, I am going to wear my gray hair to match the wisdom the years have given me.
If my hair would be silver or white I would stop, but it’s not.
I’m 64 and still color my hair when I can. Due to my pains and illnesses I cannot sit in the salon that long, so I have to do it myself. And only when my back feels “up to it” which is not as often as I should!
The only reasons I will continue to do mine when I can is because, my grays are gray, not the pretty silver, and the brown (its dull not shiny at all) mouse brown!
I’ve been coloring since I was a teen and have had every color in the book. I’m so envious of the younger women and teens that color their hair in the great colors that are available now: pinks, blues, greens, purples, reds.
I do see some older women, but younger than me that have some gorgeous pink colors in their hair and I always complement them. Most of them do it themselves and they look great!
I did get some wash out pink, blue, and purple that I put in if and when we get to go somewhere.
NEVER! WHEN I WAS IN MY 40’S, I STOPPED DYING IT & I STARTED TO GET GREY AT THE TEMPLES. A NICE LADY TOLD ME IT MADE ME LOOK OLDER THAN I WAS. THAT DID IT FOR ME – STARTED COLORING IT AGAIN & HAVEN’T STOPPED. (AM ALL SALT & PEPPER NOW) BELIEVE IT OR NOT I GET MY DYE AT THE DOLLAR STORE & IT WORKS GREAT – LIGHT BROWN, BUT I NEED 2 OF THEM AS I HAVE A LOT OF HAIR. A FRIEND STOPPED COLORING HER HAIR & IT’S ALL WHITE – SHE LOOKS 25 YRS OLDER! NOT FOR ME. I WANT TO LOOK AS GOOD AS I CAN FOR AS LONG AS I CAN – AGE 72 NOW.
When I’m resting in a vase on top of the fireplace mantle.
I’m an 85yr old that all say I look 65.I’ve been coloring my hair for a very long long time. My husband is 10 yrs younger. What more can I say! I do my own and I would like to stop but afraid to.
Not something I have to worry about. Not because I won’t have grey hair (I will and have a tiny bit now), but I will let it grow in my natural hair.
?I have really enjoyed reading everyone’s thoughts on hair coloring. Thanks for starting this thread. I hope that you have a great day!
