When applying your eye makeup, what are your favorite tips and tricks
Lashes and Liner, oh my! When applying your eye makeup, what are your favorite tips and tricks? Ask Lancôme’s Robert Cook all your questions and join the conversation August 12-13!
I have very oily skin. I have found that if I use a waterproof mascara it runs all over the place. If I use a regular mascara, I do not run into this problem.
I figure since oil removes the waterproof makeup, it must be the oil from my skin making my mascara run.
1. A 4-Way Lighted Makeup Mirror.
2. A heated Eyelash Curler.
This is not a very glamourous question but I’ve avoided mascara because it ends up in the inner corners of my eyes. I wipe it out and there it goes again and again and again.
What am I doing wrong?
I’ve used many prestige brands, some waterproof, and even Hypnose Drama which I found to be the BEST in the WOW factor but it still collects in the inner corners. I’m 58, have a decent lid, no hooding, no allergies.
I would also like to put liner in the water line but again not possible.
PS. I love all of tips & tricks you give, cheating the lip line, foundation only where you need it, and no no to the douple dip! Have been watching you with the 2 new launches.
I just purchased the Genifique face and eye duo and I’m looking forward to trying both. My question is, my dermatologist prescribed prescription strength Retin-A which I use at night. Do I apply Genifique before the Retin-A, and will the Retin-A interfere with the benefits of Genifique? Thank you!
I always start with a magnification mirror. So many times I’ve left the house with mascara a flaky mess or too heavy eye shadow. It’s always nice when you can see what you’re doing. 🙂
I will be watching some shows today. Just want to say I love that picture of Robert and Cara.
I cannot live without the Lancome eyeliner and many products by Lancome.
I exactly don’t use make up due to very sensitive skin:)
The last time I use a beauty product I look like I was wearing blusher for at least a month without blush due to severe skin break out:(
I do look at your products 🙂
Thank you for asking:)
Been using the Lancome Color Design single round eye shadows for over 15 years:heart:. I apply my shadows to clean skin no creams before and they glide right on, no crepey look and last all day in the Miami heat! I’m fair skinned and love the color “daylight” as my base and under the brow bone. It’s an off white tone, not harsh like some of the whites around.
When I was in my 20’s I worked with an older lady and she told us youngsters never to pull or drag the eyelid area outward like when taking your make up off. Always push inward to avoid sagging of the lids. I never forgot that lady’s tip!:womanvery-happy:
Two of my favorite tips are from you Robert. One is making up the less strong brow first. The other is not putting the mascara wand back into the tube after each eye. That works really well for me since I don’t usually apply many layers of mascara.
Another mascara tip I like is from Wayne Goss. Apply mascara to the tips of a metal mascara comb, then apply to lashes. It works really well for separating lashes, and making them darker and longer without clumping. It’s better than trying to declump after applying mascara normally. There were a couple of times that a new mascara didn’t work out for me, but by using this method I was able to still use them with good results. I suppose it wouldn’t be necessary with a Lancôme mascara.
Any chance a Robert Cook makeover could be added to the Rewards Store?
Yes it will! XO
I like to keep it simple that way I can actually follow a routine on a daily basis.
Thanks everyone for your tips and think I may add a primer. The issue I seem to have is that my eyes get red when I wear a lot of eye makeup. My guess is that some of the particles get into my eyes. any tips on this would be GREAT!
first, i must say that my go-to, essential eye makeup tip is to use some sort of an eye lid/ eye shadow primer prior to applying eye shadow. in all of my adult years, i have tried to apply eye makeup both with and without eye shadow primer. once i saw the difference in impact and sophistication by using eye shadow primer, i never looked back. as for brand, i like to use bare escentuals summer bisque prior to my eye shadow application. for me, it looks the most natural. (i also use summer bisque as a “concealer” all over my face. just fyi. :smileyhappy: )
second, i am soooo very afraid of liquid/gel eye liner. that’s why i just don’t use it. i would love it if robert did a demo of it one day. (I LOVE YOU ROBERT!!! I LOVE YOU TOO CARA!!! STAY AWESOME, MY FRIENDS!!!)
the sad part is that i have dark brown eyes and i think that a liquid/gel eye liner would complement them a lot.
oh, the things we miss out on because of fear.
