Tyra coming back
So I missed her last visit but sure heard about it. I hope I dont miss this time. HSN hide the Red Bull !!
MsJules, I agree with you on all your points. I wore something not long ago and a lady at the Bank said to me wow thats sparkly , I came back with why be dull when you can sparkle. She then agreed with me and laughed. My Mom used to say "everyone to their own liking as the old woman kissed her cow". That always stuck with me and I have always wore and done what I wanted without thinking whats people going to think.
Lmao. I’m so psyched about her coming back. I know a lot of people weren’t too happy with Tyra but I’ve always been very inspired by her and always used to watch her tak show as well as ANTM when it first got started. Everything isn’t for everybody. I think that HSN recognizes that its veiwership has shifted in some way. Where the demo was originally an older crowd younger women and brands that are more likely to appeal to them have come to HSN.
I’ve probably been shopping with HSN for 7 years and I used to love Joan Boyce’s clothing and bags because she uses sequin and bling. I had a pair animal print sequin boots that she did and I loved them. Got so many compliments on them while I was an undergrad. Everybody always thought they were uggs. I remember calling in to talk about them when they were a TS and Joan and Calie both said they couldn’t say they looked like UGGs but I could since I was buying them. I did too. Because they were basically identical but 80 dollars. I have a pair of hot pink uggs I’ve worn a handfull of times that were gifted to me. They were 240. I could never bring myself to buy a pair of uggs because I feel like 240 for winter boots that aren’t waterproof and get dirty easily is crazy. But I always wanted a pair. I’m kind of a bargin hunter so even when I go to say Sephora and want to buy something I try to check ebay and I look on hsn. I can’t tell you how weird it is for me to go into a store and feel like paying retail is crazy.
Benefit is one of the brands I use because of their mascara and eyeliner. I wanted the Roller Lash and was able to get it with AD on flex pay. I hadn’t realized, your flex pay is honored every time they ship you a new one. What store is going to do that? I’m on a fixed income with a disability so I sometimes can’t afford retail prices because I have to budget everything. It’s very helpful but more to my point. There are a lot of tried and true brands at HSN but there are also brands that I think speak to women who aren’t quite as matue yet. Tyra’s 40 but she’s such an icon in fashion and has such a message to her and what she’s accomplished I really think that resonates with younger girls.
Lancome to me is a prestige brand but has always been the counter for the more refined older woman.
Too Faced to me is like Urban Decay or Urban Decay’s older sister. Still a little cutesy, frilly but a little more serious and kinda fun but not too out there. Women in their late twenties, teens and according to Jillian beyond that reach for this brand but the way its been marketed the brand itself and packaging can be seen as somewhat childish or not that mature/serious.
I hope my examples and explinations makes sense. Even stories by Kelly Osborne. She’s a little older than me and I really love what she’s done with her clothing line. Everybody gravitates towards different things but I also feel like, certain brands and products target certain people.
