Sub-freezing temps and face moisturizers
I vaguely remember some warnings from back in the day that one should never apply moisturizers when heading out if the weather is really cold (I gather, the symple mechanics of freezing water in the pores expanding and damaging your face?) – and back in the day, the thinking went, it is better to protect your face with some fat. Anybody has any better grasp on what to do to protect your face when it is cold – and what the cutoff temperatures would be?
Olive Oil is great for your legs, feet, arms, hands.I am not sure about the face though. Nuns in our area, take in homeless people. My doctor was amazed at the conditions before and after. He told me,everyone look as good as a new born baby’s bottom .
I will use real butter if the economy collapses—–BB
:womanhappy:I do not use my microdermbrasion during the day, especially cold days. I use a few layers in the cold for protection. After washing my face with Philosophy, I use Josie Morans Argan Oil, Then I use Laura Gellers Spackle champagne, next a bit of Mally pores protection, I just rec’d Josie Morans makeup kit, Love it, have not used this yet. I use IT CC Cream and IT Light Powder and then Josie Morans Love color stick for my cheeks and my lips belong to C.O. Bigelow. I can put on argan anytime, over makeup etc. Love It, I feel I am very protected. Josie has 35 sunscreen, IT has a 50 sunscreen. If it’s just chilly in 40’s I use less, always thought my skin would need more protection?:) I am a bath and body works junkie, LOL. I have all the shea butter creams, and use Patricia Wexler, True Blue Shea, this month I am totally in love with Josie Morans Whipped Souffle comforting plus my go to would be Perlier, this time is poured out like water, very upset…. So back to Madagar Wild Vanilla, just got my stock pile of body butter today, and their souffle. I bought so much the other day from them, love free shipping, $10 off every $30. and they call me when items go 50 % off. I have my one linen closet filled, had to put bells on the door, lol, when my nieces or friends come over:womanhappy:
Thank you for pointing out to me just one more thing I can be grateful for, I don’t have to be concerned about my face freezing here in Florida. :smileyvery-happy:
I have lived in cold climates before and never heard anything about this. I do remember avoiding wearing metal earrings though.
Massha, that thought process is long gone. With the advent of higher grade ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid, argon oil, etc. which help seal in moisture and powerful anti-oxidants it is important to keep all of your skin protected during the cold, windy, dry months. I haven’t heard about frozen pores in decades. LOL
i like to stick to as natural of a product as possible. i try to look for items with shea butter, for example, as opposed to oils. the problem is that i have acne prone skin so it makes it hard to find something that super moisturizes without breaking me out. if you are into oils, argan oil is at the top of beauty junkies’ list this year. jojoba or rosehip oil are also great for the skin. if you are looking for something other than oils, kiehl’s makes great creams- especially an avocado based eye cream that is a cult classic. philosophy hope in a jar moisturizer (for all skin types) is fantastic as well. another great is the elizabeth arden "8 hour" cream. it is a classic standby.also, let’s not forget perlier products sold right here on hsn. perlier has spectacular hydration products. i say find a moisturizer that works for you AND then head outside. you need some form of sunprotection and moisturization when facing the cold air. i hope this helps!! xoxo. oh, psandbtw, you may want to also do a facial/mask at night before you go to sleep. this will help you awaken moisturized the next morning. liz folce the hsn korres brand representative always plugs the korres "yoghurt facial" in her line. she says that she and the other loyal korres customers swear by this product. this might be a great starting point. happy moisturizing, massha!! stay awesome and hydrated, my friend!! xoxo
