Signature Club A Makeup
Opinions wanted about this makeup kit and/or any item in it: SCA Makeup Collection 488-069. I am wanting to try Adrienne’s makeup, and the products, by themselves, seem to have good reviews. Good, bad…all opinions welcome!
This will make some of you gasp, but I just threw away the base compact. It is too dark, heavy, and accents every line I have. It sits on top of my face and is just plain ugly. Today, for the first time, I tried her concealers under my IT makeup base. The concealers are yellow, blue, and lavender. I was afraid I would look like a clown but the IT covered it. The powder looks dark and reddish but when I put it on, it gave me a rosy glow without being too heavy. I bought another kit (I think it came in the black bag, sorry don’t know item number, but it It says Imperial Vitamin C Take Along Makeup Kit on the back). It has foundation, Candlelight Glow Lipstick, blush, and eyeshadows. I love the lipstick and blush. I thought I didn’t like her powders and concealers but it was the base that I didn’t like. Using other foundations made all the difference in the world.
Just reporting back that I tried item 474-858, and it did not work for me. The blush was a great color w/great application, but that is the only thing that worked. Everything else was either the wrong color, too heavy, didn’t last, had an odd smell, settled in wrinkles I didn’t know I had, etc. I returned it.
Because I like the eyelid fix, I tried two “try me” kits in the C line and Argon oil line. I didn’t like all the products in the kits, but that is to be expected. After several days, I broke out in these weird bumps under my skin. Before I broke out in the bumps, I knew I wanted to add retinol to my routine and contacted Adrienne’s CS through FB pm to see what the percentage of retinol is in their caps. They said they couldn’t tell me as it was a proprietery formula. The lack of transparency really turned me off, and by that time, I had started breaking out in those weird bumps, so I am done with SCA. I am using the remaining products from those two kits on my neck and chest and have not experienced any reaction, yet, so at least they won’t go to waste.
I found a blog called Hot and Flashy (Angie), and she is amazing. She recommends lots of makeup and skincare products (high-end and low-end) after trying them, and I have found several makeup products that work for me based on her recommendations. I also went back to Paula’s Choice for my skincare (added their 1% retinol) with the addition of a Vitamin C serum from Timeless (Angie’s recommendation) and a couple of new serums (Niacinamide and Matrixyl) from a company called The Ordinary.
I’m not a fan of her products at all, had one facial done at “Lord & Taylor” in my early 20’s which was a disaster (my friend too):womansurprised: I saw her on HSN years ago and purchased a beauty item and ending up returning it as well. There are so many other wonderful brands out there.:smileyhappy:
I would pass on this kit due to the brushes; that’s money wasted. Look at 474-858 if you have very dry skin or 380-563 for normal to dry.
If the color works for you, her products are excellent. I love her foundations, color correct creams, lipsticks, everything. Sadly, her Fair foundation is simply too dark (she used to make a range of colors; no more) but the texture, how it felt on the skin and the finish is fantastic. Both of these sets will offer you everything from foundation to correctors to powders to eye shadows and lips. Her colors are classic, not fadish, btw.
I have tried the foundation & it is too yellow based for my complexion. I checked out the kit you are considering. I do have several cases of the lip plumpers stocked up, they don’t do any plumping for me but I do really like how they moisturize the lips & help with lip lines,I have been using those for about 2 years. I apply those before bed & also if you want them for a nice gloss during the day they are very glossy. I am not at all fond of the brushes. The bristles are made of goat hair, not very high quality & the bristles fall out & seem rough on the skin. The lip color is nice but has an odd taste. The eye pencils are a little bit too hard for me. I don’t like anything that tugs on the eyes as the eyes are very sensitive and you don’t want any tugging as this is a very delicate area & can cause wrinkles if you keep tugging when applying. I am use to wearing the wind up eyeliners now & that are waterproof. This is just my opinion however, and I learned from trial & error, just because something doesn’t work for me it may be great for others. It doesn’t hurt to try it as you do have your 30 days to return if it doesn’t work out for you. I currently use IT cosmetics & love their brushes as well & I use some Bare Mineral products. We also need to consider skin type & age. My skin is normal to oily so this foundation may work wonders for you if you have dry skin? I have never tried any of her eye shadows. Her blush is very nice & does stay on very well. Best of luck with your shopping 🙂
I don’t use SCA foundation because it is not a color match for me. I love, love, love her cream blush which is in that kit. Great color and lasts until you wash it off. I also think SCA color correctors are some of the best available, same with the candlelight highlighter which is a desert island product for me. I use Ready to Wear brushes but have gotten SCA brushes in kits in the past and they are fine but not great.
BTW, I love Boston too and used to live there.
I am not a fan of SCA. I have never tried Adrienne’s makeup, but I know some ppl swear by it. The brushes in that kit look really outdated. The butter makeup is going to work best on a dry skin type. That’s about all I can say. I hope some others who have tried it will offer their feedback. :smileyhappy:
