Perlier – white almond bath cream – Expiration date
I found an opened 1/2 gallon of the white almond moisturizing bath cream in the back of my bathroom closet. I forgot all about it.
I used about 1/4 of it & it is years old.
Does anyone know if it is safe to use? There isn’t any warning or date on the label. It still smells fine.
Thanks for your help.
Honestly I would NOT use it. When bathing, soaking, showering you are exposing 100% of your pores if you get my point lol.
PLAY IT SAFE WHEN IN DOUBT…..
Thanks for your reply. It is better to be safe.
If it were me I certainly wouldn’t use it. Too many variables to know the content condition. Better to be safe!
I remember Skip saying on air that there is a 2-3 year shelf life on the products.
Have you tried calling the co. ?
That being said, shelf life can depends on several things.
If the product has been opened ,that could shorten the shelf life.
If opened & stored in a cool dry place, it will last longer that the same thing opened & stored near the shower heat/steam.
Also check in the bottle to see if there is any black mold….although if you have a good nose, you might detect a smell that would tip you off.
Heat from the shower will shorten the shelf life (if your products are kept in the shower).
If the product smells fine & it is the same consistency as when new, it’s probably fine.
Try washing your hands with it & see how it goes.
Seriously…they must have a long shelf life since Skip encourages everyone to stock up and buy several of the 3 Liter size shower gels when they are available !!
I would call Perlier 877-737-5353 to verify, but I think you’ll be okay to use it if it looks and smells okay.
One more thought. I agree with BB, you can always use it as hand soap. I refill our dispensers with shower gel that I find on sale. When I actually figured out the cost, I’ve saved a few bucks. Shower and bath soap are much more fragrant compared to typical hand soap. Guests who use our guest bathroom always compliment our hand soap. Just a thought.
Skip has stated in the past 2-3 years unopened and 1 year when opened.
You have to look on the container to see when it was made it’s a 6 digit number for example I have an open body cream the number reads 421001 the first digit is the year it was made in this case 4=2014, 21 is the week it was made and unfortunately I don’t recall what the other numbers represent.
personally, i would throw it out and get a new one here on hsn. perlier offers so many great items at so many great prices- esp. on a perlier visit or todays special- that it is just not worth risking damage to your skin and/or health. maybe next time try getting something smaller so that you know you will finish it. i still pine over some of the larger sizes that perlier brings into inventory, esp. for a todays special, but i don’t end up buying because it is just too big for me. also, another plus with purchasing smaller sizes is that i can afford to experiment with different scents etc. as well as stay dedicated to my signature, go-to scents. regardless, you can never go wrong with anything perlier. i say, let go of the remorse and pitch this old bottle- because you are worth it!!! xoxo.
My derm said if it smells okay and looks okay it’s usually safe to use, you can always try a little on your hands first.
It may not be as effective as it was but most products usually smell bad or look different if they are harmful
I honestly couldn’t say but your post reminded me how lovely this cream is. I used to use it in my jetted tub, remember Skip saying it wouldn’t harm the jets as some products do.
