No Glamour Magazine In My Home!
I had bought the Too Faced Today’s Special, with the free Glamour magazine subscription and I received my first issue the other day. Thumbing through it, I realized why I had stopped getting Glamour years ago when I was pregnant and starting a family – because of the full page cigarette ads. My mother had died of lung cancer a decade before, and while I liked the magazine and it was hard, I vowed my future child(ren) would never see a magazine in our house that had cigarette ads in them. So, even though Glamour was a free gift from HSN, I emailed Glamour to immediately stop my subscription and exactly why.
Also, I think the HSN free magazine subscription has become like the free makeup and/or tote bag you get with department store beauty gift-with-purchases – unneeded, unwanted, and useless. I would much rather have an extra lipstick or lip gloss, thank you very much.
I respect your take on cigarette ad’s. I am also so sorry about your Mom. I will have to ask if GLAMOUR has cigarette adds in their magazine ? Did you see one as I have not seen a cigarette add in years ? I do know several are doing ad’s with the vapor thing but that is about it.
If you enjoyed the magazine and want to really teach your children why not just have them put big red x over the ad’s.
My parents taught me well how bad cigaretts were yet at 16 I tried them anyway. Sometimes the best way to show how bad something is I feel is not in hiding it.
Bless you and my best to any parent .BB:manhappy:
