Men and Beauty Products
After years of me offering my beauty products to my husband, he finally realized he should start using something. Right now I am trying out Prai eyelid and eye cream, neck and decolette cream, caviar serum and now the chin up. He’s giving it a go but he is so hilarious, “Are you sure guys can use this?” LOL!!!!! Has anyone else shared their stuff with their man?
My hubby has been using SSC for years, he likes the Glycolic stuff. Uses wash, serum, eye cream, face cream and SPF. He looks a great deal younger than most men his age. Part of that is I got on him about 20 years ago concerning SPF. His father died from melanoma, so it’s way beyond vanity. If your man wants one simple step for everything except SPF, try Elysee compentrice. That’s how I got my hubby started, and then he was able to get in the habit of using at least something. Again, also please get yearly skin checks for cancer and at least wear SPF… keep trying different ones to find one you like, inclusing on your arms and any exposed skin EVERY DAY ALL YEAR LONG. I’m in my 40’s and didn’t grow up with sunscreen and have had several early cancers removed. A friend just passed from metastatic melanoma at age 42.
My husband has ZERO interest… and it shows. He looks far older than his age. A close friend of mine does care and I share all my samples with him as well as assist him in what products he should use/need. He and my husband are the same age; the difference is shocking.
Just goes to show you what taking care of your skin plus sunscreen can do.
My husband has been religiously using Dr. Jeanette Graf Skin Rejuvenation Exfoliation & Firming pads. This is the first time I have gotten something for him that he actually has seen what a difference it has made with his flaking skin that I don’t have to keep reminding him to use them.
I also bought him some Preparation H as Kemi had heard it might help with his eye bags. He isn’t using it and after I tried it I don’t blame him. It is like petroleum jelly and it doesn’t soak in. I will be buying another of Kemi’s suggestions.
He is awful about sunscreen but I’m not the greatest either. Neither of us likes the way it feels. Someone really needs to create a sunscreen that doesn’t leave your skin feeling like you have a clay mask on!
Maybe Kemi could start a new business and put that on the top of her list of creations! Just don’t forget who all your friends are when you start putting a price on them! And don’t forget to send us all coupons and free samples too!
My boyfriend never use any beauty products. So I don’t have any idea.
I picture Skip from Perlier w all his products lined up on the vanity and telling his wife what to use, LOL!
Ha! What a great post! I, as a guy, use products but probably don’t go to the extent that the ladies do. I’m sort of lazy but without any make up to worry about cleaning off, well, that makes cleaning much easier. I started many, many, MANY years ago just using some kind of cream…mostly because of the combo skin thing. Dry like a bone out of the shower (and then able to grease a frying pan by the end of the day). Then there was a little “beauty” session for guys at work about at a minimum washing, moisturizing and even then sunscreen. Now the goal is to stave off as many (and) growing wrinkles as possible. I’m now mainly using SSC C, A and some Olive Oil. I do like that it’s not too complicated (thanks to Serious John for getting me to try the products…btw, wonder if he is still with SSC?) I have to admit that one of my most/longest used products is that old Apricot Face Scrub that can be picked up anyplace…I like the Bullseye store brand. When I really need to exfoliate, I use it…at least twice a week…it is the only product that really takes off the dead skin. I should be much better about the sunscreen (especially here in SoCal) but also, in general, don’t like the feeling. I use my SSC C with SPF a lot and wish they would make us a bigger sized/better priced A with SPF. Then…as we have focused before…there all all those other aspects to skincare…diet, hydration, SLEEP, smoking, drinking, drugs, etc. etc. etc. It all matters!
This is a great topic! My man is pretty rugged and despises anything “pretty boy.”
However… I make him use SSC Glycolic Cleanser w the Michael Todd Soniclear to wash his face. Then I make him put on a 2% salicylic acid serum, tea tree oil, my Finacea rx and moisturizer. LOL! He refuses to wear SPF, bc he doesn’t like the way it feels. I have caught him skipping some of his “steps” more than once…bad boy. I give him a facial once a week and use a pumpkin mask. He gets blackheads like crazy!
I gave my husband black rice serum by Perlier and it has helped. It is not heavily scented, goes right in and is in a simple black container so I thought it might just fly with him.
I have, in the past, given some products that I didn’t care for to my husband to use up. He always seems to like them, but he never keeps it up for very long. I guess that’s a good thing, because I spend more than enough on beauty products for him to get into the habit too. lol
