Okay so I got the hairspray You complete me or whatever. It sucks! If it didn’t cost 7 dollars to send it back I would. It is going in the hairspray graveyard! Aquanet is another name for it. It was so stiff that I couldn’t move my hair or readjust after spraying. I tore out so much hair that I want to throw this can. So anyway, I didn’t like it.
I didn’t find the spray stiff as Aquanet or near what you described. My problem was that it didn’t hold my hair and what curl I had soon fell out. I didn’t care for the product.
I am so sorry to hear that.
I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again in case anyone doesn’t know. If you have an HSN card, anything charged on it can be returned with their label and the cost of of the return is given back to you in spendable cash. Also you don’t have to pay anything upfront on the label so if you shop regularly you can use your spendable cash and the return didn’t cost anything.
Oldpixie, why don’t you buy a travel size and try it so you can see if you like it. The one I mentioned is also available at Walgreens. Interesting that there isn’t a CVS in your area, I thought they were everywhere in the U.S.
I really hope you all like this product, because I would hate to know I’ve made someone unhappy because I’ve recommended it.
Here’s to Happy Generic Sebastian Shaper Faces!!!!!
 :smileyhappy:
Oldpixie, hair spray doesn’t go bad especially aerosol. I really like W8less by Rusk. You can find it at CVS. It’s a fine mist that isn’t "sticky" and leaves my hair soft to the touch. The other thing I like is that is doesn’t build up because I have very long straight hair and I don’t wash it everyday. Be careful though and don’t get W8less plus or extra hold as although it’s not sticky I can definitely feel it in my hair.
Questions on hairspray. … I only use it a few times a year so my can is several years old.
1. does it expire or go bad?
2. If I should replace it, what is a good cheap drug store brand. I like a soft hold for my fine straight hair with no curls style.
Thanks in advance for your advice.
Hey rachel164-took your advice and bought the "generic" shaper at Sally today. And I think you’re right! Sprayed it and it is like Shaper! So thanks for sharing the great tip! and I love the pic of the pup! (:
That’s awful to hate stuff you order. I guess it’s bound to happen sometimes. Martino said to use sprays far away on his show. Maybe that helps? I love watching him but don’t use aerosols because of allergies. I wish he had some leave in conditioners or hair mask type treatments. Hopefully he will expand to products to treat dry, colored hair. He might have had complaints about stickiness so he said keep it far for the ladies who wrote me.
Bought the volumizer and the hairspray. Liked the scent at first and gave this product a decent shot but I hate both products! The volumizer dulls my hair and makes it feel nasty. The hairspray is just ok but I have used much better products-like Shaper. These are going back-makes my hair look awful.
I also used Shaper for more years than I can remember, and loved every day of it. It holds your hair without the ‘helmet’ head you mentioned.
One day I went to Sally’s and they were out of Shaper. They talked me into their "Generic Shaping Spray" and I purchased it knowing that I would hate it. Wellllllll…to give you the Cliff Notes of this story?? I’ve been using it ever since!!! The spray is the same as Shaper for half the cost. I can’t tell you how nicely it holds your hair WITHOUT any stickiness. It holds exactly like Shaper at half the price..
A couple years later I decided to treat myself to a can of Original Shaper and boy was I surprised when I used it. The Shaper seemed STICKY compared to Sally’s Generic spray. Yes…it did hold my hair as it always had…but was most definitely and noticeably stiff in my hair compared to Sallys. I also have extremely thick naturally curly hair that I have to blow out to style. My hair is very fine…I just have a lot of it, and it’s cut in layers to the middle of my back, and the Generic brand holds the style for an entire day…and my hair feels soft to the touch!
The label reads:
"Generic Shaping Spray"…"Compare to Sebastian Shaper Hair Spray". I get the ‘Fine Mist Spray for Hold and Control’.
Please consider trying it. I think you will love it as much as I do :smileyhappy:
Hi moodyshopper I feel you on a purchase that you can’t use and don’t want to spend more to return. I have a few products that I received that did not meet my liking and I didn’t return them. I hope you did a review expressing your opinion as this helpful to other customers and to the vendor.
I love Carol’s Daughter Monoi Hairspray 399-148. I never tried a hairspray I liked until this one. I don’t require an extreme hold and I love that I can get hold without having helmet hair. It’s a flexible hold. I love the scent of the monoi products, some people don’t. All in all it’s the perfect hairspray for me. Might be one for you to consider.
Don’t throw it away – save it for the next big-hair 80’s party you go to. :womanlol:
