Luminess Air foundation costs around $850 a year.
I should have included this in my review on HSN.com but didn’t do the math until after I submitted and it can’t be edited.
I had issues with the foundation but was determined to get it to work so for 5 days I used it (didn’t make it through the 7 day challenge due to all the issues but I tried). The bottle and instructions says 4-8 drops… well, it took 3 rounds of 10-12 drops before it gave me ALMOST full coverage…. and I don’t do full coverage normally. My point being that 4-8 drops did NOTHING at all; another 12 drops offered a sheer coverage and another 12 drops gave me coverage but not what I expected- I thought that much product would leave me with cake-face but it didn’t.
Remember, 5 days of using it before I packed it up and returned it……
I saw that the bottle of foundation was MORE than HALF empty at that point. I thought…”Hmm….” and continued packing it up and that was that. That evening, I saw that the retail price of the full size bottle (which they include) is $35. So, if I’m going through half a bottle in a week (roughly) and I use it daily, that means in 2 weeks I would be out of makeup. That means 2 bottles a month. 4 bottles times 12 months….WHOA!!!
I chatted with a buddy who does air-brushing for a local station and he confirmed that he goes through BOTTLES of the product weekly because you need so much to achieve full coverage. He said it’s one of the ugly secrets that they don’t tell MA’s when investing in the system that you’re going to paying $$$$$ for foundation. He wishes he could go back to traditional foundation on his clients but they prefer the look of airbrushing on TV. It’s a business expense write-off for him but still…..it’s a LOT of money.
I NEVER thought about the cost of the foundation. I though a few drops would do it. It reminds me of razors: the refills cost SO much and you don’t realize that when you buy the razor.
In any event, the product didn’t work for me and I’m done with it but it still rubs me the wrong way, you know?

OMG! Thank u so much for the detailed review. Every time I’ve seen that product on TV, I’ve gotten a bad feeling. Isn’t that weird? I get these gut feelings about everything. That’s why I have never purchased Luminess. After reading your feedback, I am so glad I followed my intuition. That is absolutely ridiculous!
