Which do you prefer? For foundation: Sponge, wedge or brush?
Is this just personal preference or is there a reason for your particular use?
I just switched over from one brand of make up to another.
Thanks in advance for your input!!!
I’ve used the wedge and the brush, but just recently switched back to using my fingers and I think I like the fingers best. Definitely the easiest to clean. :smileyvery-happy:
I love this sponge and I think that I use less foundation with it and it gives a more even coverage
I use Sensitive Skin Lotion and apply with my hands:)
Peace and love:)
For yrs of SSC products.. Sunscreen is all I need. Sorry I can not be of help.:catsad:
All lovely ladies who bothered to respond:
I sooo thank you. It was very nice of you to help me. I appreciate your thoughts and suggestions. Wow…:heart:
I have decided to start with reasonably priced brush and keep my sponge too. I will, however be looking into buying a Kabuki brush. I’ll interchange between the two and see. Brush is sounding like a winner because of product amount. My new foundation costs a lot more than MAC. I chose this brand (NARS) because of its wide pallete for finding my right skin tone. First, I got some samples of Estee Lauder long wearing. I love how it felt but It oxidized so much and even though it has a tremendous color pallet ~ couldn’t match my color up good. The one I did get matched with, seemed off. I was at the Macy’s counter forever. LOL. Hopped over to Sephora checked out NARS and I’ll stay for now with it.
Again, thanks to Delraylaw, Seanchal; Snowcollector, Pinkdoll, Deeklez, Mooncat3, TACI, Skittles135, Ms. Velveteen, Gandkmeme8, Ironbutterfly7, Southernlights!!!
The lovely ladies of HSN forums are the bomb!!!!
The best makeup tools are my fingers. I use my ring finger to apply makeup to my face. It has less musculature than my index finger. So, with my ring finger, the makeup goes on smoothly and evenly.
I’ve tried a few different brushes over the years and have found them to irritate my face. Although, I will use a brush to only lightly add some correcting powder over my makeup. I don’t use sponges. They soak up too much of the makeup.
It’s taken me a really long time to find a good foundation that won’t become blotchy on my skin or turn orange. I’ve finally found one that looks nice on me, gives me a smooth uniform finish, and is long wearing. I use L’oreal Perfect Match. Truthfully, I have to blend two different colors together. But the two colors together do give me a close to perfect match.

I really wish all my brushes were as smart.
I use both a brush and a Beauty Blender. Just depends on the look I am trying to achieve. When I use a brush, I think it is a thicker coverage. The Beauty Blender or even a sponge gives a seamless finish. Even after using a brush, I use my Beauty Blender (lightly) to make sure it’s blended.
Hi Serenafan! Since I use a cream foundation I use my fingertips to apply and lightly go over my face with a wedge. I also used double compressed powder to finish off the look and my make-up stays on all day. I use Clinique continuous coverage and powder.
I use a brush using round strokes. Rounding provides a polished look.
I use PUR mineral makeup.
Hi Serenafan, I love this sponge that came with a foundation HSN used to carry, Lorac.
The foundation is long gone but the sponge is sturdy, makeup is not absorbed, and it is super soft.
Also a large soft kabuki brush that came with a clay foundation bought years ago is another favorite.
I use a brush so I can have that “spa expierience.”
Okay whenever I hear that I roll my eyes. Putting on makeup just does not make me think or feel spa no matter what…
I was using a brush for a while but I gross out on wondering how often it needs to be cleaned…like probably every time and again just before you use it or i’m sure there is bacteria growing in there…. :catfrustrated:
It is qucik and easy to clean my fingers and they do just fine.
I wear liquid foundation and use my fingers to apply it. No wasting of the foundation and good control of the application.
HI SERENAFAN:heart: WEDGE GAL HERE! lol First time tried ‘brush’….. left bristles all over my face, UGH ….AND…. IT WAS NOT CHEAP! :womanfrustrated: ‘Sponge–soaks up, and causes (me) streaks! Also is matter of preference of what works best for product being used! IMHO I also use liquid foundation, for me, wedge works best– SMOOTHER, EVEN APPLICATION! And they’re inexpensive to replace TOO–YAAY! :womanvery-happy::heart:
