How to exfoliate correctly
Hi guys. I have some questions about skin exfoliation! I’ve been using scrub type of exfoliation products for both of face and body so far, and they were pretty fine to use. However, since a few weeks ago, I feel the face exfoliator hurts my skin a little bit while I am rubbing it on my face. Not all the time, but sometimes it makes my face a bit red after using it. Since I don’t rub it roughly, (I do even more smoothly these days, so sometimes I don’t think it really removes the dead skin cells on my face actually..) and it was fine before, I think the cold and dry weather may cause my skin being more sensitive. I’m looking for new exfoliators to try that are soft but still exfoliate well. Please share some good ones. Thank you!
I agree that the LUNA cleansing tool is excellent for making sure your skin is really clean. It’s still important to exfoliate or there will be a build up of microscopic dead skin cells and your serums, moisturizers, etc. just won’t penetrate to do their work. Have you thought about using one of the skincare brands’ pads, i.e. Dr. Jeanette Graf’s glycolic pads, SSC’s glycolic pads……. There are a lot of new products out now that have a consistency similar to a serum that you apply to your cleansed skin at night and leave it on. You can use you regular night time routine on top of it. I haven’t checked to see if these have been added to the lines here, but they are getting good reviews on skin info sites, so that’s another possibility. Usually there will be instructions on the container about how many times to exfoliate during the week to start with and then how many times/week if your skin is tolerating it well.
You didn’t mention how often you were exfoliating? You shouldn’t exfoliate but every couple of days. You should cleanse, tone and moisturize every day and then exfoliate twice a week. I would also recommend using a thicker makeup washcloth as they are less abrasive and maybe if you prefer more of a scrub use something like Stella recommended. I am currently using Clinique 7 day scrub but don’t use it everyday. I treat myself to a facial once a month and this routine has been recommended by the estheician. I hope this helps.
Hi Anya and welcome to the HSN forums!!
For me I find if I cleanse my skin correctly I have to do less exfoliation. I use the Luna and a gentle cleanser and this skin tool helps my skin exfoliate/cleanse effectively and I use a mild fine scrub type perhaps once a month now due to my Luna!! I know it may seem costly and right now HSN is offering a 20% coupon for their customers too. The Luna will save you money in the long run by keeping your skin at its best, if you can, try and read-up on the product!! Hope this helps and of course this is just my own personal experience with this product too!! Good luck!!
