Dry frizzy hair
So I live in a desert town with very hard water. It has taken a toll on my hair.
My hair is thick and long and although I do not color it nor perm it my hair is very dry and frizzy. I have tried a ton of over the counter products and so far nothing has really worked. Any suggestions out there?
Love Wen by Chaz Dean. Does the job!!!
Hi sherrytaylor1020, sorry for the late posting!! For me it’s TWEAK-D 427-433
Tweak-d RESTORE Self-Cleansing Hair Treatment BOGO
A little goes a long way and the longer your hair is the more you will need. A no sud’s shampoo and it really helps dry, frizzy hair and also for me helps my hair grow longer with less split ends!! I have never had such a great hair cleanser before I tried this from HSN!! IT WORKS and I love it!! Plus for the price of a BOGO you can’t go wrong!!
Let us know what you try and how it works for you!! ~Stella.
Okay, this seems gross, but it really works. Mayonaise! Yep, but it has to be the real full-fat kind. I slightly warm some (a small bowl full) up in the microwave (you don’t want it to cook). Then I slather it all over my hair especially the tips. I put a damp, hot towel around my head and leave it on for about a half hour. I change the towel a couple of times warming it in the microwave. Then wash well. I generally do a second wash. Then condition as usual. Your hair will be much smoother, less frizzy and shinier. I swear by this! I have bleached blonde, thick, wavy hair that I flat iron. It takes a beating! This works better than any hair treatment I’ve ever used. I do it every couple of weeks.
I rub a little coconut oil between my hands then pat it on my hair. It not only tames the frizzies and smells wonderful but it also nourishes and conditions the hair.
I’ve tried it all and have dry, coarse, and very thick hair. Nothing worked for me like WEN. I don’t use it every single time and incorporate Carol’s Daughter Monoi in there but it has made a huge difference when it comes to the frizzies.. I highly recommend it.
You need to go to QVC and purchase WEN by Chaz Dean! 100% can in my frizzy hair! Please try it!
Have you tried argon oil? You just rub a bit onto your wet hair right after showering. I live in a dry area of my state and use Costco’s Kirkland brand of shampoo and conditioner. I’ve used it for years and my hairdresser is always remarking about how nice my hair is, especially at age 58. Now, I have gone through bouts of it being so dry and itchy I couldn’t stand it, and think it was when my thyroid levels had dropped if I had had them tested. My thyroid is low, and my daughter is on thyroid medication. I’ve noticed since she’s been on medication , her dry hair issues have gone away.
I have very curly hair and it was starting to become dry and just unruly. So, I bought Avon 360 Argan Oil shampoo and conditioner then style it with a simple hair gel from L.A. Looks Mega Mega (yellow one). ?? Hope that helps!
Many products mean for defrizzing or shine use silicone which is, for most, a great indredient for hair. Over time, though, it does build up. The build up doesn’t allow healthy, nourishing ingredients to get to the actual hair shaft. Hair gets duller, we use more silicone products, hair gets duller and you can see the cycle. Shower filter is an excellent idea as other poster mentioned. Also, every 3rd or 4th shampoo, use a clarifying shampoo to get all the micro-build up off of your hair. You don’t need an expensive one, any drug store clarifying shampoo will do.
Buy one of those shower caps so you can deep condition your hair with avocado or coconut oil. Keep it on for hours at least once a week. After a few weeks of a shower filter, clarifying and oil conditioning, you should see a difference.
I suffer from terribly frizzy hair and do all of the above but admit I still need my flat iron to smooth the hair. That’s another can of worms!
Hi….I have seen a big difference since I placed a Jonathan brand filter on my shower. Also years ago a hair colorist fried my hair (I have a very good one now and very expensive lol) that bad experience left me looking for something to moisturize my hair. I tried Wen and my hair changed. I have curly hair so oil just made it frizzy. Never use a towel to dry your hair blot with a tee shirt. The Wen finishing creme is a must for me. I also use velcro rollers and not a flat iron. I dry under a drier. I now get compliments on my hair. It took a while for my hair to recover but I found better products and a better routine.
I use coconut oil, the kind you can cook with. I apply it on to dry hair, put a plastic cap over my hair and then wrap my head in a turban to keep the natural heat in. I leave it on for 20 minutes or so and then wash and condition my hair as usual. I avoid shampoos and conditioners with sulfates. I would also recommend argon oil. It can be applied to both wet and dry hair.
apply either generously to dry hair. wide comb thru coating ends. leave on for hour or more. then wash as normal. do this once a week or as needed.
also, when i am at mountain house which has hard well water even through 2 filtering systems……i keep on hand gallon of bottled water for final rinse when i wash my hair.
