Difference Between Eyeshadow Primer and Eye Lid Primer
Is eyeshadow primer and eye lid primer two separate products?
I need a product that’ll make eye shadow shade true. No matter what color I apply, it fades :womanfrustrated: . I avoid shimmer and glittery shades. They evidently turn white. I prefer matte shades. Colors are nice in container but doesn’t stay true.
I don’t buy the cheapest brands but I don’t buy the expensive lines either.
All your advice and/or experience.
Something I learned many years ago and still works for me: Use a bit of your foundation on your lids. Dust with loose powder using a brush (I use a loose face powder applied with a brush). Then apply your eye shadow – matte, never shimmer or glitter. Use a natural/neutral under the brow. This sets my eyes for the day – even in humidity. Shadow color stays true and does not run or smudge. Hope this helps.
this is such a great question. the only thing i use as a "concealer" is bare minerals summer bisque. i use it on eyes and face. however, if someone can recommend something else that they feel is superior, i am willing to try it out. perhaps even get a free sample from sephora? please share. i’m curious. xoxo
I’m so grateful you asked this question as it’s been something I’ve wondered about what seems forever. Due to very sensitive skin, I have to check ingredients carefully. The products I end up purchasing are not cheap. VelveteenRabbit spoke about using a bit of silicon based primer on the eye area. I tried this…and it works great! :womanhappy::heart:
Thank you all for your replies.
I hope I can find something that’ll work.
my fav eye primer is the too faced shadow insurance. i work long days so my makeup has to last about 14hours. ive used this with lots of different brands of shadows and they do not budge. i highly recommend it. now, if you’re looking for more of a base that will make the colors really pop you’ll want to go with something more opaque like mac paint pots. hope this helps! 🙂
or we need to find the eye shadows with darker pigments. i know what you mean.
I believe they are the same thing. I haven’t had much luck with eye primers but I discovered something by accident. If you use a TINY amount of a silicone based face primer all over the eye area the eye make up stays true to color and more importantly, stays on all day.
No idea! I hope somebody explains. I tried one primer and it did not seem to make a lot of difference. Basically, I have to reapply eye shadows in the middle of the day if I want them to look even half way as god by the end of the day.
I noticed there are some products on the market that claim to fix and seal the makeup; the ones I saw are sprays. I have been wanting to try them but feel a bit apprehensive. Basically, you spray your made up face and I am sure if you are not careful you probably ruin your makeup…
