blah lipsticks in sets across brands
So many kits and sets that include a lipstick – like the set I got from SCA with the leopard compact and three lipsticks, or the Lancome set with mascara and lipstick, and so many others – only give you a choice of super light colored pinkish lipsticks that do nothing to add color to the face. WHY???? And what am I going to do with these? They don’t add anything to my face, I look the same whether or not I put them on so surely, I’d just go without then. Why is this bleak color the only choice? I imagine it would look great on a very very dainty super pale blonde – but why are they so pervasive? Beaityboy, is it the dreadful "nude lip" lipstick thing all over again as a trend? Or is it just that all companies are packaging their less popular lipsticks into kits?
Again most lipsticks offered in GWP’S AND BONUS BUYS ARE OVERSTOCK-
Estee will stand as one who most of the time continues to sale the lipsticks offered as it is a very smart way the EL corp chooses the most popular.
I have almost always enjoyed the lipsticks that come with Estee Lauder’s ‘free with purchase’ promotions. You have a choice of colors for several of the items that are in the free bundle. I think they are split up into cool and warm colors.
My main complaint is that I find a shade or type of lipstick that I really like and by the time I need a refill (because the free ones are full-sized), they are no longer making it!
Massha, I’m with you on the lipsticks in kits are horrible. With the exception of the recent SCA evening bag TS and Ready To Wear kits the lipsticks always have brown or orange undertones which I can’t wear. I’m blonde, blue eyed and usually tan and I need blue undertones and a deeper shade of pink or red. I think super light colored lipstick looks ridiculous on women over 50. I haven’t found anyone to even give away most of the lipsticks. They just accumulate and sit in the bottom of the lipstick bag!
Massha–I know what you mean, the reason it first it seems to be a neutral so everyone is not scared.
The Pam Anderson lip is still hot on pale,or tanned blonds. I do agree that each offer should give you the choice of atleast 3 different colors to choose.
I do know that in the past many brands offered this duo to sale overstock or even a shade that was not popular.
It is really best to always buy your lipstick seperate. I agree the nude lip has run its course.
Good question Masha. I am a fare skin, pale blond with very light blue eyes and I do not like all the pale lip colors. I feel like I need the pop of color so that I don’t look like death warmed over. Maybe the companies do this thinking that the brighter the color, the less people can or will wear it. A lighter color may be more easy to pass off on different skin tones? Awaiting an expert opinion here….
It’s always been that way as far back as I can remember…I have to say that when I purchased Adrienne’s TS with the evening bag, powder, brush & lipstick that wasn’t the case. It’s a beautiful rich color that we can actually wear….was such a pleasant surprise…I’ve stopped expecting to receive a color I can wear from any promotional here or B&M.
