I also purchased both, and was skeptical of how the soap smelled when it was dry and still in the wrapper. So much so that I debated about whether to open it and try it or just send it back. Once I opened one up and used it, though, it really does smell like lilac, as does the cream. (The lilac scent of the cream is lighter than that of the soap, but I used it all over my legs, arms, and chest (sunburned) and I was glad the cream scent wasn’t stronger because it would have been overwhelming with it on so much of my body if it were stronger). I cannot guarantee you will like the soap once you wet it, but I do (despite my initial reaction).

I ordered both, but haven’t tried the cream yet (need to finish some other open jars first). I did notice that the soap fragrance is much stronger out of the wrapper and in the shower. I really like it, it smells fresh and will be nice for the hot summer.
