any suggestions of best products for tangled hair
Hi, both my daughter and grand daughter have problems with hair that tangles very easily. My daughter keeps trying different products, but really never finds any that work that well. Does anyone have suggestions? Both of them have longer, basically straight hair, that will end up with bad tangles every morning they wake up. They also have tried using hair caps, silky pillowcases, etc. I’m hoping someone has tried something that you can use to easily comb tangles out, and to help prevent more tangling. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
HI KATYHJM:smileyhappy: FINE HAIR TANGLES!!!! –feel for you! :womanfrustrated: EXCELLENT suggestions ya’ll! :womanhappy: I have waist long, FINE (but a lot of it), straight hair myself (also a cosmotologist). What works best ‘for me’….. first, brush hair BEFORE washing….if that’s POSSIBLE, LOL …. there’s a special ‘bath/shower’ brush called ‘The Wet Brush’ (has own site or salons/beauty supply stores carry-works WELL– WON’T HURT either :womanwink:) made specifically for ‘shower/wet hair’. After washing….if you use a little conditioner (or similar product-think even J&J makes ‘baby conditioner/cream rinse’ (?) ) …. AND, (ALWAYS start from bottom working upwards) BRUSH HAIR ‘BEFORE’ RINSING, WHILE CONDITIONER/RINSE IS ‘STILL’ ON HAIR, MAKES SOOO MUCH EASIER and tangles are NO MORE! …..AND, even BETTER (hopefully, lol) ….NO TEARS!!! GOOD LUCK! :womanvery-happy: And PLEASE, let us know what you tried AND WHAT, IF ANY, WORKED!!! THAT…. will help ME TOO! :womanvery-happy::heart:
Thanks everyone for your responses. I ordered the Tweeked chocolate and the monoi oil products and hope they help!! Thanks again for the suggestions….there’s just so much to chose from, and even with reviews, its hard to pick some products.
There is a tool, a kind of brush, called Tangle Teezer you might want to check out. Several places carry versions of it, as you’ll find by Googling it. Reviews are good, and several mention it being great for children’s hair. I don’t have first-hand experience with this brand, but I came this/close to getting it as a gift for a relative once. :smileywink:
I agree with Mooncat3. The key is is put the hair into four or five long Braids or Plaits at night, then pin the braids/plaits up. .. Then satin cap.
I just got and tried Tweeked Tribal Chocolate Self Cleasing treatment and am literally blown away.
No need for a conditioner, detangler, or mask and the shine FINALLY came back to my hair!
It felt smooth and soft in the shower and stayed that way when it air dryed.
I was skeptical and practically determined to prove them wrong!
I had just tried Carol’s Daughter shampoo, conditioner and hair mask which left my hair really greasy after 1 day so I didn’t have high hopes especially because my hair was so smooth, too smooth, while rinsing in the shower so I made sure I rinsed well and triple checked making sure I could hear and feel my hair actually sweeking.
I used some Taya white clay thickening cream after my hair had dryed which I need cause I have fine straight hair but it can tend to weigh my down a little sometimes.
Now it’s the next day and my hair isn’t oily or greasy, and it’s still shiny.
I am thrilled with the results. It’s not often that a product can blown you away.
Mooncat3 gave good advice and a wonderful product for combing thru tangled hair:234234 Monoi Oil Sacred Strength Hair Serum. You don’t use a lot, just a little and with the wide tooth comb combs right thru. I have it on auto ship. You can get it now and watch for Carols Daughter presentations, sometimes goes on sale for $19.95. I use it several times a week ( I use other products in between).
Also she mentioned a leave in conditioner. I use Fructis leave in conditioner 2-3 times a week.
Neither of these products leave hair looking or feeling greasy.
Best solution might be to put hair in loose braids, one one each side.
Use a wide tooth wooden comb and try a leave in conditioner or hair serum. Such as 448-642 or 234-234.
Avoid products w/ alcohol in them which dry out the hair.
I have long, thick hair and I swear by Tigi Fast Fixx (leave in conditioner) which can be used on wet or dry hair. It doesn’t build up even if you use it everyday. I pull my hair up on top of my head when I’m sleeping too.
