A story about Christie Brinkley & me in Junior High
Hope you find it interesting.
Christie and I were buddies & classmates at a new private school, Le Lycee Francais de Los Angeles, in Beverley Hills, an experimental all speaking French school. Christie, me and my sister were all put in a class called Classe Pilot for adults intermediate in French, She was 16, I was 11.
The school was an old sanitorium/assylum, the big front gates were painted white but you could still see the red painted “AMBULANCE ENTRANCE” sign showing through. The classrooms, all on the 1st floor, were painted a clinical green and were padded top to bottom, and wire meshed reinforced windows w/ thick heavy bars. The 2nd floor hadn’t been remolded and tho we were not allowed up there well….. Christie and I used to sneak up there, she was mischevious. Upstairs was covered in broken glass, same padded green walls in little rooms (cells), guerneys and wheelchairs with leather straps, soiled linens, a special room of bathtubs with tubes, straps and cuffs, and sometimes we’d find personal momentos mostly religious.
Oddly we never really seemed affected by the strangeness of our environment. Now as an adult I wonder what was my mother thinking enrolling all 7 of us (my siblings)? But there were celebs kids attending too, Julie Andrews’ daughter driven in a limo, Marlon Brando’s son Miko amoung others.
Christie used to draw a lot during class mostly intricate medieval castles and took me under her arm teaching me to draw. She was the person who influenced me the most leading to a full blown career as a painter living in Italy for 20 yrs.
She had that same naturally blond straight hair, beautiful smile, pretty hands, and that same laugh. She was infamous for rolling up the dreaded uniform, knee length grey wool skirt to a mini and was constantly getting punished for it. She tanned everyday during our breaks w/ baby oil but I must say seeing her now on HSN she looks almost exactly the same as she did then. I say “almost” because she was heavier, about a size 16 and always on a diet. Imagine my surprise when I 1st saw that cover on Cosmopolitan with Christie in a bathing suit! I knew she had moved to France after being discovered by a French photographer…who became her 1st husband.
Back to the topic of having work done I’m sure there are fillers and little things here and there but in general nothing seems too worked on or I would know. The one time I noticed something really different was on the launch of Hair 2 Wear. She looked frozen…Botox frozen. It was really noticeable and painfully uncomfortable to watch.
Well that’s it, hope you weren’t expecting a gossip spree, and just enjoyed the story.
Can’t explain it. But you are not the only one to get it. Usually it goes away, and I can post whatever it was I was posting.
I am not sure what your error means.
My posts are poofing more in the last two Months. It is frustrating.
Yesterday, I has a message about an error. The error was incorrect and eventually my comments posted.
You might want to copy and save your post in case this happens again.
Then you won’t have to try and retype it all out.
I have that problem if I open HSN in Google. But not in Safari………….
That is so annoying ?! I want to read what u had written! I have switched to my Mac laptop from my iPad and am having fewer technical difficulties. I am using the Safari browser. I have no idea what to tell u, bc I am not computer savvy. Maybe CS can report it to the Tech Team?
Very cool story, Gise. Thanks for sharing.
We went through a time period when our posts would go poof or we’d get a 404 error message. Hope we aren’t going down the same path again. Copy your post before clicking on post button so you don’t have to re type.
THATS A GREAT STORY . I ENJOYED READING THAT I THINK SHE IS ONE OF THE SWEETEST LADIES . YOU CAN TELL THAT THERE IS SOMETHING VERY NICE AND SP:ECIAL ABOUT HER . I RECENTLY SAW PHOTOS OF HER LOOKING AMAZING IN ITALY WITH HER CHILDREN AND I BET THEY ARE SO PROUD OF HER . I MET BILLY JOEL BACKSTAGE AT A CONCERT BEFORE HE MARRIED HER AND HE WAS VERY NICE .AND I HAVE A FAMILY MEMBER THAT KNOWS MIKO BRANDO .. HE WAS A GREAT FRIEND OF MICHAEL JACKSON .
So glad you retyped that. Such a lovely story. Always so much negativity especially about celebrities. This was so refreshing.
And reminds me when I was in junior high school (middle school now) and I rolled up my skirts and would get sent home!
Glad we got to read your story!
Sounds like you had a great childhood. You have to wonder too why they couldn’t have found a school location that was more child friendly? Not sure that’s the word for it.
I dont plan to use Botox or fillers, as a bloated or frozen distorted face won’t work for me. It seems pretty unnatural looking many times. Love your term ‘Botox Frozen’.
HI GISE427!!! WHAT TERRIFIC MEMORIES OF YOUR TIME WITH
CHRISTIE!!! I REALLY ENJOYED READING YOUR STORY. THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!! INTERSTING INDEED!!! I TOO, ROLLED UP MY SKIRTS TO MAKE THEM SHORTER!!!! LOL!!!! = TREKKY!!!
Thank u for retyping your story ?! It was a really fun read! I would rather read something postitive like this over a complaint about her that doesn’t make sense. Ahem. Anyways, I think Christie is just lovely, and I like her voice. She doesn’t sound 62 yrs old, nor look it!
We were the very first pupils attending that French school. No longer an ex sanitorium it’s one of the poshist, most elite, expensive private schools with sister schools around the world.
It’s now run by the daughter Mme. Kabbaz who was in the same class as my little brother. Now my little brothers 9 year old son goes there.
I’ve sometimes wanted to call Christie on HSN and bring up those memories. I’d probably tell her she looks just like I remember her and not mention the weight loss.
LIFE TAKES US DOWN MANY PATHS I WONDER IF THERE IS ANYONE ELSE THAT WENT TO CLASS WITH A FUTURE CELEBRITY . I KNOW I DID .
Gise 427 Your story brought back memories for me as well. My mother signed me up for acting school in New York. I was the only child in a class full of adults. I didn’t enjoy it.
I find it remarkable that you were able to maintain a friendship given the age difference. It amazed me how you are able to recall so clearly the details of your school. It certainly must have made a lasting impression. Thanks for sharing.
Gise what a wonderful story. Thanks for sharing this so very interesting time in your life:smileyhappy:
